January Goals & Habits

In addition to New Year's Resolutions, I also like setting monthly goals and habits.  Usually I recap the prior month's in this post as well, but I skipped December, because let's be honest, nothing was getting done then, and November seems so darn far away now.  So, this post is just going to start fresh with the focus on January!

Goals:

1.  Clean out bathroom closet/drawers.  My bathroom stays pretty organized, but with getting new towels last year, as well as some new products, things don't fit quite as nicely as they used to.  And I know everything could use a good wiping down.  It also serves as an opportunity to see what I am running low on so I can reorder.

2.  Clean out my sweaters.  I feel like I just did this, but it needs to be done again - my drawers are a little too full right now!

3.  Clean dishwasher.  While I start following Go Clean Co. last year (like SO many others), I haven't actually tried any of the tips/tricks.  This year, though, I plan to change that.  First up - my dishwasher.

4.  Freezer cleanout/stock freezer meals.  This is a twofer.  I meant to cleanout my freezer prior to the holidays, but it fell the the wayside.  That's number one.  The second part is stocking some freezer meals.  January into February is pretty busy with work, and if I don't plan well, come dinnertime, takeout sounds way better than cooking a meal from start to finish.  I am sure that will still be the case sometimes, but I'd like it to be more of an exception than a rule.  And this will give me the perfect opportunity to try out some new recipes from the Skinnytaste Meal Prep cookbook!  She has two 'Freezer Favorites' chapters - one for vegetarian meals and the other for meat and seafood.

Habits:

1.  Drink 120 ounces of water each day.  I think I have finally gotten back on track with my water intake, and now I want to make it (back) into a habit.

2.  Daily Vitamin.  After hearing how much Lindsay liked her Smarty Pants vitamins, I grabbed a bottle for myself.  I kind of got off track over the holidays, and want to get back to being consistent.

3.  Daily Collagen.  Ever since collagen powder became popular, I wanted to give it a try.  I was super hesitant, though, because I thought that it would taste similar to protein powder, which is not my favorite.  However, the one I have (it's Monat - if you want to give it a try, reach out to Biana!), is so good just mixed with water.  I've heard consistency is the key with collagen powder, and plan to make it part of my morning routine.

4.  Daily Walks.  Obviously this one is weather permitting, but the plan is to get outside for a quick walk each day.  Even if it's just around the block, I am going to count that as a win.  The point is to get some fresh air each day, and some extra movement is always good!

Looking at these goals and habits, they are all about cleaning out, organizing, and wellness!  Sounds about right for the first month of the new year - hopefully it's a good one!

  1. I cleaned our dishwasher for the first time last week and it was so needed - that and the microwave LOL! I am so happy you are loving the collagen, it's so easy to just add it to water and kill two birds with one stone - more water and collagen :) xo, Biana BlovedBoston

  2. Let me know how you like your collagen powder. I bought some a couple of months ago but I haven't tried it yet. I need to crack open the can already! And 120 oz of water?! Dang girl, that's awesome! I aim for two Yetis each day which is 64 oz and it's hard enough for me to do that some days!

    1. I LOVE it! Yes, I am curious to hear how you like yours. This one has a flavor, and when I first smelled it I was kind of put off, but it's soo good! It's a definitely a lot of water, but I feel like when I get at least 4 Yeti's, I feel SO much better!

    1. I feel like that's a great way to get it in. I originally wanted a flavorless one, too, but this flavor is really good and I figure it helps me get in extra water.
