Weekend Recap: It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas...

It's definitely looking a lot like Christmas over here!  I spent the weekend decorating, and now I am sitting here, typing this, soaking up all the fruits of our labor.

My parents came to town this weekend to help me, which is always so darn nice.  My dad had his own to do list, and my mom and I handled the decorating.  I would say my dad got the short end of the stick (which he really did, thank goodness for him), but I am actually pretty sore from the weekend.  Hauling those decoration tubs up and down the stairs are no joke!

Friday consisted of taking fall decorations down, a delicious spaghetti dinner - complete with my mom's homemade sauce which is my very favorite - and fluffing all the Christmas trees.  Plus all the above mentioned hauling of tubs up and down the stairs.

For some reason, I could not sleep come Saturday morning, and was up and at 'em, decorating at 5:00.  My mom joined in shortly after I started, and we quickly made progress on my bedroom.  I am absolutely in LOVE with my new Christmas bedding, and am so glad I decided to go for it this year.

After a yummy breakfast, I headed out for some essentials from Target.  I stocked up on Christmas lights, after discovering two of my strands had bit the dust the night before, and grabbed a few other things.  I should have paid a bit more attention, though, because I ended up grabbing a box of lights on a white strand.  Luckily I ended up over buying and had enough that I didn't need to turn around to go back to finish decorating, but just a word of warning if you are like me don't always look as closely as you should!

My mom and I took a trip to The White Rabbit.  It's a local(ish) boutique that has some really neat stuff.  They have some vintage/antiques mixed in with their new stuff, and I almost always find something to buy.  We stopped first thing, since they are only allowing a certain number of shoppers in the store at once, and luckily had no wait.  They had the neatest milk glass ice bucket.  I have been collecting milk glass for the last few years, and have never seen an ice bucket before.  It was so unique - I could not pass it up.  The shop was beautifully decorated for the holidays, and my mom and I left, ready to decorate.  Even though it was in the 70's, and fall was showing off its colors!

While we were shopping, the announcement of our future president was made.  A customer came into the shop while we were checking out, and said it as soon as she walked through the door  It almost felt surreal to have a decision (I know there are lawsuits, but from what has been reported, it seems like those will not make a difference in the final decision).

We decorated the rest of the day, and well into the evening.  It's always a process, and even more so since I keep adding to my decor year after year.

On Sunday the last bit of decorating to do was the tree.  It's always so fun pulling out the ornaments, as so many of them have a story to tell, or a memory attached.  My favorite part, though, is adding the icicles at the end.  I was telling my dad, I am not sure if it's my favorite part because I love the finished look they give to the tree, or if because that means the decorating is done!

I was sad to see my parents go.  Their trips are always too short, especially the ones where we just work, work, work, the whole time.  But I so appreciate all their help.

It was a great weekend, and is ending on a great note, too.  As I type this, the sky has turned from orange to orange/red, to pink/purple.  It's the prettiest thing, and is the perfect way to settle in on a Sunday evening.

Linking up with Lindsay.
