Weekend Recap: Family Weekend

Hey all!  I hope everyone had a good weekend.  Mine was filled with family and the most beautiful fall weather, two of my favorite things!

I took off Friday, and ended up driving back to my parents' Thursday after work.  The drive was pretty smooth, and I was thankful for that.  I got home just in time for a delicious spaghetti dinner.  My mom's homemade sauce is my absolute favorite, and it really hit the spot.  I can't remember the last time I had it!  I definitely need to make some myself soon.  I also got home in time to make it downtown for a little evening shopping.  The shops were staying open late, and I was happy that coincided with my trip home.  I grabbed a few things from Charmed.  She has such cute things, and they do ship if you want to do a little shopping yourself!

I had to snap a picture of the courthouse while I was up there.  It's such a neat building, and it's so pretty lit up at night!

Friday morning we hit the road to my brother and sister in law's.  Camille, my parents' cat, tried to come along, too!

We decided to take a different route and ended up on a longgg detour.  There is something about a detour in the country that seems so much longer than others.  I feel like they space the signs just far enough from each other that you start to wonder...is this really the right way?  And then once you are about ready to turn around, you see a sign that let's you know you're still on track.  It was a bit of an adventure, but complete with a few cute little towns, neat farmhouses and a road called Pumpkin Vine Lane!

The trip to Indy was fun as always.  We did a ton of work, and got in a lot of quality time with my brother and his family.  Things I hope I never forget about my nephews - the way they smile when they see us, the way my older nephew is learning to ride a bike, the way he says 'thank you for helping us' just out of the blue, the way my younger nephew runs on his tip toes (and fast as can be), wants to be just like his older brother, and how he says the 'mama' and 'no, no, no' parts of monkeys jumping on the bed.

It was back home again early Sunday morning.  I got in some kitten snuggles, had a delicious lunch, and my mom and I made a trip to one of our favorite local-ish home stores.

The weather was just so lovely the entire weekend that it basically required time be spent outside.  It's supposed to warm up again this week, so I was soaking as much of it up as I could!

It's back to work today, but with a weekend well spent, Monday doesn't seem quite so daunting!

Before I go, a quick reminder about the Fall Favorite link up this week.  Sarah and I will be sharing some of our favorite fall fashions, and would love for you to join!

Linking up with Lindsay.

  5. Sounds like a good weekend. I love my mom's cooking too and spaghetti is a huge favorite of mine. What did you buy at charmed?

  6. I'm so glad you got to be with your family this weekend. My mom's spaghetti is one of my favorites, too! My dad always requests it for his birthday. I've tried to make her recipe and I just can't get mine to taste as good as hers. I think it's because she just throws stuff in and doesn't really have a specific recipe... she's just been making it for so long that she knows exactly how much to sprinkle in and it's always consistent and delicious!
