September Goals & Habits

Last month I skipped my goals & habits post.  I haven't been doing the best with them, so I figured it might be worth it to take a break.  And I think it was good because August was a bit busy, and motivation was at a low.  But I wanted to get back to it this month.  I truly find that it helps to write these things out, and putting it on the blog adds in an extra layer of accountability...at least that is usually the case!

So, here are my goals and habits for September.

Goals:

1.  Clean out bathroom closet.  I reorganized my bathroom closet awhile ago, and I cannot tell you how great it has been since.  I am one of those people that clutter weighs on...and sometimes I don't realize how much until I put it in order!  All that said, while the organization is holding up, the containers I corralled items in could use a wiping down, and I know that there are some products in there I no longer use.

2.  Clean out / organize dresser drawers.  My dresser drawers have been in a bit of a disarray.  My sock drawer has gotten extremely full, and when I went to put away a new sweater, I realized that I never went through and neatly refolded my sweaters after going through them earlier in the year.

3.  Purchase diffuser and essential oils.  I decided awhile back I wanted to check out essential oils, but haven't gotten as far as purchasing.  I would like to have something to diffuse while I am working, and then keep my candles to the evenings.  I enjoy lighting a candle as a way to signal that work is over and it's time to unplug for the evening.  I still want the good smells during the day, though!  And I have the perfect spot for a diffuser by my desk.

4.  Source bathroom decor.  In early August, my parents came down and we painted my bathroom.  Since then, I haven't done much else to it.  I would like to get new towels, a new rug (or rugs), and wall decor.  I have an imagine in my head of how I would like it to look, I just need to find the items to complete it!

5.  Clean Keurig.  I am taking this from Lindsay's monthly goals.  When I read her post, I realized that it had been too long since I gave my Keurig a good cleaning.  And since being at home I use it more than ever, it's definitely necessary!

Habits:

1.  Drink 4 YETI's of water.  I used to be SO good with my water intake, but over the last month it's dropped dramatically.  I hope to get back on track this month!  I know it's kind of funny to measure in 'YETI', but that is what I drink from each day and I find it easiest to just count the number of refills I have throughout the day.  It will equal about 120 ounces.

2.  Meal plan by Thursday night.  While I love to cook, meal planning is not necessarily my favorite.  I used to be much better at it, but more and more I am not quite on top of it.  I just want to cook all these different things, and I have a hard time narrowing it down!  But it's necessary (at least for me), and to ensure it's not hanging over me for the weekend, I want to get it done by Thursday evening.

3.  Asleep by 9:45 on weeknights.  I had this on my past few posts, and it's still something I am working on.  I get up early, and don't want to change that.  I still want to try and get enough sleep, though, so I need to make sure I am in bed at a decent time.  For me that would be 9:45 to allow for 7 hours of sleep.

4.  Spend 15 minutes a day on personal email.  I feel like my personal email always gets pushed to the wayside.  After looking at the computer all day for work, and reading various emails, the last thing I want to do at times is focus on my personal email.  I hate feeling behind on that, though, so I want to make it a point to spend 15 minutes each day on that.  15 minutes can be easily carved out of the day, and while not a lot of time, I think it will be enough to keep me semi-on top of things.

5.  Water window sill plants every other day.  My mom gave me the cutest little plant for my kitchen window sill.  Unfortunately I sometimes forgot to water it, and well, it's not doing all that great.  My mom got me another plant to replace it (although I am still trying to nurse the original plant back to life), and I have realized over the past few weeks I am not watering it near enough!  It still looks good, but the leaves are a bit crunchy.  I don't want to lose another plant, and you'd think that with it being right there in front of me, I would remember to water, but I don't.  So, I plan to add a reminder to my phone to ensure I water (starting out doing every other day - that may be too much, so I will adjust as needed), and hopefully after doing this for awhile, I won't even need the reminder on my phone, it will just become second nature.

Here's to hoping that September will be the month I get back to it, accomplish some (hopefully all) of these goals, and start making some habits!

And a quick reminder - tomorrow kicks off the Fall Favorites Link Up.  Sarah and I will be sharing our favorite fall scents and would love for you to join us!

  2. Best of luck on your goals! My goal is to drink 2 Yeti's (yes, I measure it that way too!) and I struggle with that. I also am awful at taking care of my plants and remembering to water them before they start looking dead and dried.

    1. I am glad I am not the only one. :) Good luck with your Yeti goal! You would think the plants being right in front of my face would be a reminder, but it isn't, until, like you said they are dead and dried.

  3. Okay so I cleaned my Keurig and descaled it yesterday with white vinegar and my coffee still tasted like the vinegar this morning. Gaaaahhhh. I flushed two whole reservoirs of water through it when I was done, but the vinegar taste is still SO strong. I read online that most of the time you have to flush at least 7-8 reservoirs through it before the taste goes away, and apparently I was also supposed to leave the filter out while I was doing it. Whoops. So I don't know if you've ever done the whole vinegar thing with yours, but be sure to leave the filter out and flush it more.

    1. Oh my goodness - I may have to skip that part, haha! Usually when I clean it, I do the new filter, and then I have those cups that clean it, too.

  4. I need to clean my Keurig too. I am sure my coffee would taste so much better and make me less likely to go grab coffee out. Water is always on my habit list too.
