July Goals & Habits

Before I get to July's goals & habits, here's a look at how June went.  Definitely did better than May, although I didn't accomplish everything I had hope to.

Goals:

1.  Walk 3 times a week.  Check!

2.  Clean out magazines.  Check!

3.  Make bread.  Nope.  I am having trouble finding yeast at the store.  I know that making bread has been a 'thing' that has come out of staying at home, making yeast a hot commodity, at least around here!

4.  Try 2 recipes from Magnolia Table Volume 2.  Another no.  I did sit down and flip through the whole cookbook, marking all the recipes I wanted to try.  I have the two I would like to make, and the ingredients were on my last grocery list, so I am all set.  It just didn't get done last month.

5.  Find a good bug repellent for the backyard.  Check!  In my post last month, I received a comment (Hi, Jen!) to try out Bug Soother.  Well, I did and it worked really well!  I still plan on trying something that helps eradicate the bugs from my yard, but for now, this bug spray is great for those days I want to sit out and read, or enjoy a glass of wine...or both!

Habits:
1.  Daily devotional.  I still don't do super great with this on the weekends.  I just need to do it first thing, but it doesn't always happen.

2.  End the night with a clean kitchen.  This one is getting taken off the list, because it definitely has become a habit!

3.  Weekly yard work.  With being home, I find that I weed as I see them, rather than save it all for one day.  However, I still would like to get in the habit of setting aside some time one evening or weekend morning to give everything a good once over.

4.  Delete junk e-mail at the end of each day.  This one is still hit or miss.  I try to keep up with it as I go, but sometimes after work, or before bed, the last thing I want to do is look at more emails.

5.  Weeknights, asleep by 9:45.  I have done pretty well at this!  There are a few times that I haven stayed up late reading a good book, or getting in one last episode of a show, but overall I have been sticking to 9:45.  It might seem kind of juvenile to have a 'bedtime', but having that set time has kept me more of aware of the evening and how I am spending my time.

All in all, not too bad for June!  Now for July.

Goals:
1.  Decide on a new hobby.  I feel like there are so many different hobbies I would like to try, but because of that, I don't try any of them!  They range from learning the piano, to making candles, to learning about essential oils, to quilting.  All of the place, I tell you.  Instead of just talking about them, I would like to decide on one, and then move forward with it.

2.  Reorganized my two lower cabinets.  Since I don't eat breakfast all the much anymore, I haven't been using my instant pot to make hard boiled eggs.  Which means I haven't been using my instant pot hardly at all.  Down to the basement it went, and now I have more room in the cabinet it was being stored.  I moved a few things around, but it was done in hast, and I would like to redo it again.  I also have another really odd shaped cabinet that I would like to see if I could move things around in.  And I am pretty positive there are a few things in there that could make their way to the basement, too.

3.  Group garage sale items.  Speaking of the basement, I have a pile of items down there that are garage sale items.  And by pile, I don't mean a nice, organized pile, I mean just set down in kind of, sort of the same general vicinity with no rhyme or reason, haha!  I don't plan on having a garage sale anytime soon, but there is no reason for the items not to be organized for when I do!

4.  Find a large basket for my office plant.  I guess I shouldn't call this my office plant, since it now resides in my home!  My mom and I re-potted it not too long ago, but the pot I bought isn't my favorite.  The pickings were kind of slim when I went to get one, so I went for something pretty plain and reasonably priced.  And I had hoped that I could put it inside a larger crock I have.  Well, I went a little too big on the pot, and it didn't fit in the crock.  So, as an alternative, I am going to try for a basket.
The back plant is the one I need a basket for - if you have any recommendations for a large, reasonably priced basket, please send my way!

Habits:
1.  Daily devotional.

2.  Weekly yard work.

3.  Delete junk e-mail at the end of each day.

4.  Weeknights, asleep by 9:45.

  1. I think it's so great that you are getting to bed at 9:45 on weeknights - I certainly dont and should! Organizing is a monthly thing on my list too! xo, Biana BlovedBoston

  2. I feel like now is the perfect time to explore new hobbies. I'm trying to stick with blogging, and my boyfriend is picking up guitar again. Can't wait to see what you pick! xo

  3. Now is definitely a great time to start testing out new hobbies. I'd love to learn to play the piano, too! That is a fun one! And yeast is impossible to find here, too. For the longest time we couldn't even get flour, but flour is now back in stock in most places. Yeast, not so much, though.

  4. I've been able to find yeast at Aldi's. I haven't found it at other grocery stores though.
