Happy Friday!  I hope everyone has had a good week.

Here are some of my favorites from the week:

1.  Porch Drops at Church.  One thing I love about my church is the opportunity to support the community through mission work.  Pre-COVID, the staff would organize different 'mission of the month' opportunities.  They would range from backpacks for back to school, toiletries, essential housewares...the list goes on and on.  I always felt like this was such a neat way to learn about the different organizations in the area and make an impact in the community.  Since COVID, that work has not fallen by the wayside.  The staff has been holding porch drops, where you can drop of whatever is being collected for the week to help local organizations.  It's been going on for awhile, and just makes me really proud to be part of my church.  This month, in conjunction with another church, we are working to collect 10,000 diapers for a local organization, LifeWise STL.  The first drop brought in 3,675 diapers!  We still have a ways to go, but I would say we are on the right track!

2.  Company Match.  Another feel good favorite of the week was receiving an announcement that my company is matching associates' donations to racial justice initiatives.  I feel fortunate to work for a company that has made this a priority, especially during an already trying time due to COVID.

3.  Gardening.  Being at home these last months has made me appreciate my backyard so much!  I love being able to get outside for a few minutes here and there throughout the day.  I feel like I have been able to enjoy the beauty of them more so than before.  This bush is one of my favorites.  The new growth is such a lighter, and brighter green - it always makes me think of 'nature's ombre' as cheesy as that sounds.  Just soooo pretty!  I was able to get out early before work one day and do a little trimming and weeding (and picture taking).  It felt great to get in a little gardening prior to starting the day!

4.  Hunter Boots.  Speaking of gardening, I have mentioned this before, but I love my Hunter boots for working in the yard!  I have had these babies for years, and they seriously are so handy.  Obviously it helps when it is muddy out, but also here in Missouri we have these little lizards that kind of freak me out and I feel a little better about walking around in the ivy with my legs covered in these boots, haha!  They are expensive, yes, but oh so worth it.

5.  Aerie.  I saw the cutest navy and cream striped sweatshirt on an instagram story from alexa.anglin and immediately swiped up.  It was on sale (and still is - $27!) and seemed like the perfect thing to add to my wardrobe.  I love the colors and I often get cold in the air conditioning, and thought this would be good to wear with shorts.  As I was looking for something else to get (because I wanted free shipping, haha!), I came across this t-shirt.  It had reviews of being super soft, and works with leggings, a half tuck, or tied up.  I have been looking for some news tops, so I added to the cart (and just hit the free shipping mark!).  It truly is super soft, and very comfy.  It's definitely oversized, so you could probably size down if you wanted to, but I like the oversized look and fit.  Overall a very successful order from Aerie!

That's it for this week!

Linking up with Andrea and Erika.

  4. I also wore rubber boots when we lived in Colorado working outside. Mostly for snake protection! Since I bought Hunters last fall, I've noticed I do the same now, for weed-eating and cutting grass.

  7. Emily the work you do for the church is so commendable - and so many people need our help at this time, it is a wonderful thing to do. Of course I am totally with you on the stripy sweater and the wellies. I am guessing you live somewhere not awfully hot, like here? I wish I'd bought more sweaters like yours instead of high summer stuff this year as it seems our summer is over now, and in sweaters every day. You can't beat a soft, loose fit sweatshirt! Have a lovely weekend!

    1. Thank you! The church really makes it easy for us to give back in an impactful way with the different drops they do! It's actually pretty warm here, but I like them for inside in the air conditioning. :) And it's perfect for when the nights finally cool down. Hope you enjoy your sweaters...I think I could do that. I just love those types of clothes!

  8. Oh wow, I love everything that your church and company are doing. It's reading things like this that completely restore my faith in humanity. There's been so much bad in the world lately and I love to read the goodness coming out of all of this!
