May Flowers: 2020

Hey all!  My blogging has been real sporadic here of late due to some crazy busy times at work - I always think it's about to hit a lull and instead it just ramps right on up!  That said, I couldn't miss my annual 'May Flowers' post.

Going back to my first off campus apartment in college, my mom and I have been putting together a flower pot(s) for my homes.  My mom is such a gardener, and while I can't say that I find the same joy she does in gardening, I do love pretty flowers.

This year I changed things up a bit.  Usually I am one to have pots with thrillers, fillers, and spillers, but last year I decided I really loved the simplicity of one type of flower per pot.  And so that is what we went with this year!

I always start with a color scheme in mind, and I knew this year I wanted bordeaux petunias.  From there, I decided to go with a white and deep red to compliment the purple.

For the front porch, I went for a pop of color and chose a coral red.  I am hoping that it will really stand out against the brick as it grows.

Here's exactly what I got, and how it looks all planted!  Since it's still early, they haven't filled out, but I know in just a short amount of time they will really bloom!

  2. I love impatiens! That's all I got this year, all impatiens. I did 4 planters with a mix of pink/purple/white, and 2 planters of red/peach/white. They love water and shady afternoons, so that makes it so easy for me!

  5. These are all beautiful! I don't usually do many flowers because I struggle to keep them alive. I'm dying for hydrangeas but I can't seem to get them to grow and bloom. They always die!
