Master Bedroom Bedding Refresh

I switched up my master bedding since we've been staying at home.  And I literally mean 'switched up', because I am now using my quilt as a cover, and my comforter at the end of the bed.  And I moved a few pillows around.

It was the simplest change, but I still thought worth sharing!

There were two thoughts behind it.  First, the St. Louis area has had some warm weather come around in the past few months.  I get really warm when I sleep, but I need to have more than just a sheet covering me - I think it's a security thing.  Even with the air on and the fan on high, the comforter is just too darn warm.  The quilt gives me that 'heavier than a sheet' cover, while keeping me cool.

The second thing has just been being at home all the time.  I look around and find little things I want to change up, or freshen up a bit.  I still love my bedding as is, but I thought it would be nice to change it up a bit.  I initially thought about just getting a new quilt, or a new blanket, maybe a new pillow...something a little lighter, more spring/summery that I could change out with the seasons.  I ultimately decided just to switch the placement around, and viola, a nice little refresh for free!

This is how it used to look...

...and this is how it looks now.

Once I put the quilt on the bed, and the comforter at the end, I wasn't liking how I originally had the pillows.  Moving the solid pillows to the back helped to break up all of the lighter blue together, and I really like the way it looks now.

Again, it was the simplest thing - so simple I thought it might be silly to even share!  But I really liked the difference it made, and thought that maybe it would give someone else the idea to switch up their existing bedding for a new look, or at the very least 'shop' what they have before going out and buying something new!

  6. I love how your master bedroom turned out!!

  7. Oh, I think I actually like this arrangement better than the way you had it before! It looks so good! Also, every time I see how you make your bed I'm reminded that I need to start folding our comforter down at the top to expose the sheets and give it some more layers and depth. I love how your bed looks so cozy, yet like it came straight from the pages of a catalog!
