The Last Weekend in 2017 + The Start of 2018

Happy 2018!  Let me take you back to 2017 to recap the weekend.

Friday was super quiet at work, which was very welcomed.  After work, I headed to the gym to get a workout in, and also the grocery store.  As a little treat to myself I stopped and got Chipotle for dinner.  It started snowing just as I was getting there, and it was the prettiest snow, with huge flakes.  I hunkered down inside when I got home and relaxed.

I took it easy Saturday morning, and actually did my first Insta-story!  I received my Essentials Planner from Peacock Paper & Gifts on Friday, but with the snow I didn't get it from the mailbox until Saturday morning.  If you are still in need of a planner, definitely check it out.  I spent part of the morning getting it all ready to go for the year.  I love it!  I had a few errands to run, but it was nice, because they were fun errands, like going to antique shops.  I was searching for some old Christmas bulbs, like the ones my mom and I used in the 'all is bright' ornament a few years ago.  I was able to find some, and also got a few Shiny Brite ornaments.  I think I may start collecting them - they are just so neat and I love how vintage they look.  I can just imagine a little tree decorated with them, or in a jar.  It was a fun afternoon exploring the different shops.  The rest of the day was nothing really to note - lots and lots of laundry.

I knew I would be indulging for NYE, so I headed to the gym first thing on Sunday, before heading to Sunday school and church.  It was a bit light at church, but it still was a great way to start the day.  I made chocolate chip bars and nacho cheese dip for the NYE party I was attending, and made a good dent in my DVR during that time, too.  My NYE party consisted of going over to friends, boiling crab and playing games.  It was so much fun!  I have never doing any type of seafood boil before, and it was delicious!  We played What Do You Meme? which is basically Cards Against Humanity but with a picture.  It is definitely a funny game.  We all kind of petered out towards the end of the night, and basically were just waiting until we hit midnight before we could all go home and sleep.  Defintely a change from prior years!

I started off January slooooowwww.  While I didn't make as much of a dent in my to do list, I definitely made a further dent in my DVR, as well as finished up some laundry.  I made White Chicken Chili to eat on this week - I will be sharing the recipe soon.  It's super yummy and really easy to make, too!  It is one of my favorites!  I kind of wish I had done a little organzing and purging to kick off the new year, but there is plenty of time for that!

I hope you all had a wonderful start to 2018 - may it be a wonderful year for us all!
