Mom's Cheese Ball Recipe

This cheese ball is a Christmas staple for my family.  It's super easy to put together, and really delicious.  I recently made it for my book club and all the girls loved it.

A funny story about this cheese ball, before I give you the recipe.  When I was younger, I always used to try to sneak cookie dough from the mixer when my mom would make cookies.  One day, she was making this cheese ball, but I thought it was cookie dough.  I guess I never paid attention to when she made the cheese ball before, and for me the mixer equaled cookies.  I get a little swipe from the mixing bowl when she walked out of the room and pop it in my mouth before she came back in.  You can just imagine my surprise when I put it in my mouth and realize that it is NOT cookie dough.  Whoops!  I am not sure if I ever told her that story, but it is out there now.  Sorry, Mom!

Mom's Cheeseball
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 jar Old English Sharp Cheddar
4 oz shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
1/2 stick margarine, softened
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup chopped green olives
crackers (to serve with)

Mix softened cream cheese, Old English sharp cheddar and margarine.  Add seasonings.  Then shredded cheese and olives.  Line bowl with saran wrap.  Place mixture in bowl.  Cover with wrap and refrigerate.  Invert on plate and serve with crackers.  Enjoy!

  4. Looks delicious and I love those at parties! I've made one where you shape it more oblong like a pinecone, then tuck in almonds all around it to look like a pine cone. Place a few sprigs of pine around it and maybe some cranberries and it's sooo pretty for Christmas!
