Weekend Recap

Hey all!  Hope you had a great weekend.  Even with an extra day (and an extra hour!) to my weekend it feels like it flew by!

I took the day off Friday which was super nice.  I had been wanting to try some new restaurants, so I checked one off my list - Retreat Gastropub.  Everything was delicious, but the best thing by far was the housemade mule.  They have housemade shrubs, which I am still not sure exactly what that is, but they mix drinks with it, and I opted for necturine and cinnamon, which they then used to made a mule.  SO delicious and refreshing.  The atmosphere was really neat, too.  I definitely would love to go back.  It's across the street from an old school hardware store, which was awesome.  I just love the smell of hardware stores for some reason.  I needed to pick up some anchors to finally hang one of the items I got from Magnolia, so they helped me figure out what I needed.  Errands were ran, then it was time for a movie - Bad Moms 2.  I enjoyed it just as much as the first one - it was very similar in the type of humor.  Kind of crude, but really funny.  There were also touching moments, too, so it had a bit of everything.  I stayed up late reading.  I read a kind of scary book, so then started a new, lighter book to get that out of my mind before going to sleep.

Saturday morning I was up and cleaning first thing.  And remembered to put out my turkey plates for November!  I just love having a clean apartment.  It's ridiculous how quick it can get messy again, though.  I don't know how I do it!  There was a table top tour at some local stores, so I wanted to check out the ones close to me.  I stopped at Fleur de Chic and Mary Tuttle's.  Both had really great ideas, and I can't to go back and do some shopping when my mom comes to visit later this month.  I had to drop off some things at Goodwill, then headed to Cocoon for their holiday open house.  I picked up one of my favorite Christmas/winter candles - Mistletoe Kisses.  I am beyond excited that this store carries the 1803 candle line.  I hadn't been able to find them anywhere else in St. Louis!  I made a quick stop at Target since I heard they had Christmas items in the dollar spot and of course, it was already crazy picked over by the time I got there.  I am pretty sure they just put things out on Friday!  I sure hope they restock at some point.  I stocked up on books from the library - specifically holiday books!  And then proceeded to spend the rest of the afternoon / night reading.

I had the most productive Sunday morning I have had in awhile.  I went the gym, grocery shopped, started on laundry and got a crockpot meal going all before heading to church for Sunday school.  It felt good to get those things done!  Church was good, per usual.  They are redoing the sanctuary, so I stayed after service to check out the new plans.  I am curious to see how it all turns out in person.  I went back to Target to check out Chip & Joanna's new line.  Surprisingly enough, it was well stocked.  I didn't buy anything for myself, but they did have some cute things.  I signed up for a cookie walk at work this week, so after relaxing a bit, I knocked out two batches of Chocolate Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies.  And bagged them.  I am all about a good cause (the cookie walk is benefiting Operation Food Search), but as I was bagging and tying, I was starting to wonder why I signed up.  Has that happened to anyone else?  I sure hope so, haha!  It was just a bit tedious, but what can you do.  I cleaned up and relaxed with some tv...and laundry.  While I got a head start on it in the morning, I didn't get back to it until later in the evening...whoops!  I feel like before I knew it, it was time for bed.

Linking up with Biana.

  2. Laughing at the very end of this post! I do that all the time! I volunteer to make something (sometimes food for school) and then the night before I'm like "Why did I do this to myself?!" lol! I'm glad your Friday was wonderful! What are you reading right now?

  3. I think everybody can relate to volunteer stuff feeling tedious. I know I definitely can! One of my friends told me last year that we all go through seasons where we receive and seasons where we return, and that gave me a more glad heart about the "returning" I was doing since I know I have done a lot of receiving from others in the past during my trials. <3

  6. 3-day weekends are the best! I agree -- it's crazy how fast homes can get messy! My husband and I are both "neat" people yet somehow we find ourselves having a lot of things to pick up / put away each weekend!

  7. What a great weekend, friend! I love those turkey plates, and I love when people decorate for the season. I really hope to get better with that after we move haha I've been so awful at it since having the boys!

  8. That mule at the gastropub sounds so delicious! I need to find a recipe for one with cinnamon like that because I love me some cinnamon!! We actually just had a gastropub open here a couple of years ago and B and I LOVE it. The food there is so unique and it never disappoints. And thank you for reminding me I need to add my Thanksgiving touches to my fall decor. I have a turkey that I usually put out but I have forgotten the last couple of years!

  10. What a fun weekend! So many festive things! I love a clean house too but also hate how quickly it gets messy! From Sunday evening to Friday evening it looks like a tornado spins though. We are hardly home either! I don't get it!
