Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!  Time to share some favorites...

1.  My parents!  If you have read here long, you know how much my family means to me.  Both helped me out this past weekend and I know I am lucky to have them.  My dad was able diagnose my broken vacuum via FaceTime - thank goodness for that.  I received the new belt in this week and plan to get it up and running tomorrow.  Another thank goodness for that.  I learned that a vacuum is something I take for granted.  While I don't always love vacuuming, I am sure happy I have the ability to do it again!  My mom helped out a ton last weekend, too, helping me get ready for fall.  Decorating (and shopping) are two things we love to do together, so I really appreciate the times we get to do it together.  Even though we don't always agree on things, we usually put our heads together and come up with something even better!

2.  The fall like temps we had this week were just amazing.  For my walk/run after work on Wednesday, I had to wear a long sleeve top, because it was that cool outside!  The extended forecast shows warmers temps for the foreseeable future, but having that little preview was SO nice!

3.  I jumped at the 'Everything But The Bagel Sesame Seasoning' bandwagon last weekend after my mom and I made a trip to Trader Joe's.  My favorite way to use it thus far is in my morning eggs.  I have been on a scrambled eggs kick, so I just add a bit of seasoning in my eggs before scrambling.  SO good!  I will say that I tried using some when roasting potatoes and brussels sprouts and I didn't really care for it.  I just didn't feel like there was enough colors.  But eggs, yes, please!

4.  If you are looking for a cheap little touch of fall to add to your home, I would highly suggest the little mecury glass candles from the Target Dollar Spot.  I picked up three of the Pumpkin Spice scented candles, which come in an orange mercury votive, and I have been burning one all this week.  For three dollars, you can't beat a great smelling candle and a little holder that will be just as cute after the candle is gone.  My plan is to keep the glass and just stick a battery operated votive in there for a bit of sparkle.

5.  This week I was craving simple meals - a grilled meat paired with potatoes and a veggie.  For some reason I really wanted grilled pork chops last night, so I picked up a package at the grocery store and turned to Pinterest for a recipe to try.  I ended up going with this recipe for Grilled Ranch Pork Chops and holy cow, was it good.  A total of 5 ingredients, with over half that you would already have in your kitchen.  I plan on posting more about it in a recipe round up post, but it was just too easy and too good not to share right now!

I hope everyone has a great weekend.  For all my ladies in the path of Irma - stay safe!  Between Harvy, Irma, and potentially Jose, weather has just gotten plain scary.

  5. You are so lucky to have such fabulous parents! We grilled pork chops this week too and they were so delicious. We've eaten at home every night this week and it was such a nice change from the crazy we had been having.

  7. I love that Everything But the Bagel seasoning from TJ's!! I use it on my eggs too. That's so sweet your mom helped with vacuuming and enjoyed shopping together. I am anxious for us to have cooler weather too.

  8. I can't believe that your dad was able to diagnose the problem via Facetime!! That is so awesome! He must be so handy.

And DANGIT, I knew there was something that I wanted to get from TJs the last time we were there!!!! That seasoning was totally it. I kept telling Brian that I knew it was something that I had seen on a bunch of blogs but I could NOT remember what it was. I'll have to grab some the next time we go.

And thanks for the well wishes. I went to the grocery store at lunch and girl, everything is getting low. Most stuff was still in stock, but water was almost gone and everyone is saying on FB that all of our Walmarts are sold out of everything. Every single hotel in our entire city is full AND our civic center was just opened to take in more people from Florida. I think half of the state of FL is here in our city!

  9. I've been missing everything in the dollar spot lately!! I did snag a "boo" balloon and it had a hole in it so it wouldn't inflate - fail! Also, I've been dying to try that seasoning. Trader Joe's, please move to Alabama :)

  10. Okay, we are totally twins with the seasoning thing! Like, I have to kind of laugh because of how similar we are. We love love LOVE seasonings around here, so we scooped up a few kinds when we were in Alabama two weeks ago. One of them was an "everything" seasoning made locally, and I am OBSESSED with putting it on my scrambled eggs each morning. SO GOOD!!!!
