What's Up Wednesday: August 2017

I am linking up with my usual Wednesday girls - Jessi and Jenn for What's Hap-pinning Wednesday and Shay for What's Up Wednesday.

What I'm eating this week...

Monday: Ashley's Healthy Chicken Fajita Bowls
Tuesday:  Italian Beef (recipe to come!)
Wednesday: Leftovers
Thursday:  Leftovers
Friday: TBD

My original plan was to have Grilled Chicken with a salad on Wednesday, but the Chicken Fajita Bowls made a good amount, so there is lots for leftovers - same with the Italian Beef!

What I'm reminiscing about...being home this past weekend had me thinking about living back home - I just am missing that small town feel!

What I'm loving...the cooler weather we have been having!!!  It has been cooler in the mornings, which I am just loving.  As always, I am ready for fall!

What I've been up to...the month started out a bit slower, albeit with a long weekend!  It was the most gorgeous day and we thoroughly enjoyed it with a winery stop and lunch outside!  I also shared a bit more about myself, with The Blended Blog Asks link up - that was super fun!  As a way to help keep myself a bit more active at work, and stay on top of my budgeting, I posted my tips and tricks on both subjects.  I announced a fun fall link up that actually starts this coming week on Wednesday - our first topic is our favorite fall drinks!  Speaking of favorites, my favorite little guy turned 2 this month!  We celebrated with a fun family party in Indy.  My favorite 'health-ish' dessert made it to the blog, I got to experience the path of totality for the eclipse (side note: my hometown is not in the path for 2024, however, Indy is, so we may have to move the party to my brother and sister in law's!) and the last weekend of the month brought another birthday celebration - this time for my grandma!  It was a full and fun month!

What I'm dreading...while I am definitely not dreading decorating for fall this weekend, I am dreading the mess it makes.  I always feel a tiny bit overwhelmed when all my bins are out and stuff is everywhere.  However, I cannot wait for all the coziness fall decor brings!

What I'm working on...same as last month - organizing.  I definitely want to declutter, especially my kitchen.  It's a bit hard because my kitchen is tiny, with not a ton of storage, which means things need to be out on the counter.  Hoping that with some rearranging, I can get a few of those things off the counter, but still some place that is easily accessible.

What I'm excited about...my mom coming to visit this weekend!  And fall decorating!  And September!  And the Pumpkin Spice Latte!  The list of fall related items that make me excited could go on and on.

What I'm watching...the devastation happening in Texas.  My heart just breaks for everyone affected.  The only silver lining to this (and other disasters) is the coming together of people.  Seeing regular citizens, in addition to all the wonderful rescue and aide workers, helping out is just amazing.

What I'm reading...Plantation by Dorothea Benton Frank.  I am a little over half way done and it is good!

What I'm listening to...Small Town Boy and Hurricane have been my two very favorite songs lately.

What I'm wearing...I wore this black and white dress to work on Tuesday and I just loved it.  I even got a compliment on it!  Pricey, but it's so classic, I know I will wear it for years to come.  Also, you can check back tomorrow for a new work wear for the week post!

What I'm doing this weekend...my mom is coming to visit and we are going to decorate for fall!  Not to mention, it is a long weekend, so having another Monday off will be a great treat!

What I'm looking forward to next month...fall, fall, fall!  And a road trip with my mom!

  3. I love when your mom comes to decorate! I love having my momma here but having her here against her will has been a little more stressful. :) I know she is worried and anxious to get back home. It actually felt like fall here yesterday and it was amazing.
