Friday Favorites: The Eclipse, My New Favorite Realtor, RHONJ, Yummy Food & Big Hair

We made it to another Friday!  This week was a pretty exciting one because...

1.  The eclipse!!!  I was lucky enough to be in the path of totality, and it was such a neat experience.  I went into work that day, but was prepared with my glasses and headed outside at about 1:00 to check it out.  The majority of the building I work at is glass, so I able to look up at the sun (though the glasses) and see the eclipse that way, as well as see it in in the reflection off the building!  Pretty soon, it was getting darker and darker - the street lamps lit up, you could see all the lights in the building shining out, and it got a lot cooler.  All of the pictures I had seen were of just the eclipse, so I was expecting it to just be dark outside and then see the light around the moon in a perfect circle...like all the pictures!  However, it was almost like a sunset outside.  The sky was full of different colors and just absolutely gorgeous!  I am already excited about 2024.  I believe my hometown is going to be on the path of totality, so I already told my parents they had better prepare for a party!

2.  My sister in law has recently become a realtor!  One of the ways she is getting her name out there is through her YouTube channel.  We did a little family previewing last weekend and I just love her videos.  So far you can check out her intro video (which if you have ever watched The Office, it will have you cracking up), a closer look at two of the local farmer's market vendors ( honey / eggrolls), a handy home hack, and a little real estate decoding.  If you have any real estate needs and are in the Indy area, or even outside (she can connect you with people in your area!), please feel free to reach out!  I took a picture of her card below for her contact info.

3.  I am so excited that Real Housewives of New Jersey is coming back!  They announced their premiere date (October 4th) and it looks like it is going to be one interesting season.  Siggy and Delores seems to have tiffs with a few of the ladies, which I am curious about, because I feel like last season they definitely were more peace-makers than anything!  There is a little part of the trailer that seems like Melissa and Teresa aren't as tight as they were or at least they are in a tiff, which I hope it just a one off, because I really like when things are good with them!  I think sometimes the people on the show / the producers think they need all this drama and fighting for the show to be good, but honestly, I would find it even more enjoyable if everyone pretty much got along and were just having fun together!  Anyways, I am just really excited for the new season!

4.  Yesterday I shared one of my very favorite desserts these days - Strawberry, Whipped Cream & Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzel Crumble.  It is so good and I think it is one of those healthier but still indulgent desserts.  Not to mention it takes hardly anything to pull it together!  Another food related post I saw this week that I can't stop thinking about was from Designer Bags & Dirty Diapers.  I seriously love ALL of her food posts.  She shared how she is trying to cut carbs a bit to lose some weight, so instead of using rice for taco bowls, she is using cauliflower.  And then using the leftover cauliflower with breakfast.  Both meals she shared look delicious and seem super doable.  You can bet that taco bowls are on the meal plan for next week!

5.  I got my haircut last night.  Usually when my hair appointment rolls around, I am having some really good hair days, which is almost disappointing that I am getting it cut, when it finally is cooperating.  However, this time that was not the case.  I was ready for a cut and ended up getting and 1.5 inches cut off.  Not a ton, but still noticable, at least to me.  While I was there I also picked up this Big Sexy Hair Powder - it is supposed to help with volume.  I have seen this online and heard good things about it so I am excited to give it a try.  I hope it works for me!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Linking up with Andrea, ErikaApril, and Katie.

  1. I've heard good things about that hair powder, too, so I'm curious to see if it really is that great. You'll have to let me know! I love using cauliflower rice as a sub for rice--I've even used it in my quinoa fried rice instead of quinoa and it was great! I loved knowing I was eating something so good but healthy. Have a great Friday!

  3. I am so excited for RHNJ, this season looks like it's going to be cray!! How fun that your SIL is a realtor, that always seems like a fun job to me! We experienced about 97% totality, it didn't get dark her but it got darker and it was so cool, I can't imagine seeing it in totality!! Happy friday!

  7. I can't imagine how crazy it was for it to get so dark during the eclipse-- so cool you were able to experience it! I've never tried a cauliflower sub for rice (I'm afraid I won't like it because I looooove rice), but so many people swear by it, so I'm excited to hear what you think!

  8. That's so cool that you were in the totality area for the eclipse! We only had a partial eclipse, but parts of Texas will have a total eclipse in 2024. I hope that you have a great weekend!

  10. Good luck with that powder! My MIL always brings me this pink bottle of volumizer that works amazing but I can never remember the name haha. Also - so excited for the path of the eclipse in 2024 because here in CT we didn't see much! I hope you have a fantastic weekend and can pop over to my blog too. 12. That is so cool that you could see the reflection of the eclipse on the side of your building. I bet that was neat! I need to check the 2024 path and see how close it is to us. I think it's going to be further away from us next time.
