I didn't do a ton this weekend, but below are a few highlights.
Seeing The Boss. If you read on Friday, you know I was SO excited for this movie. It didn't quite live up to expectations. It was hilarious - many, many funny parts, but the end was a little too ridiculous. I understand that they were going for outrageous and funny, but I think they only exceeded on the outrageous part, not so much the funny. Overall, I did enjoy it, I got a ton of laughs out. It just lost me for a little bit there.
Grabbing my favorite gyros for lunch.
I have mentioned before that I LOVE The Gyro Company. I hadn't picked up gyros from there in forever, so Saturday seemed like the perfect day to do so. They were delicious. Just never disappoint!
Breakfast meal prep.
I have been pinning a bunch of breakfast ideas lately - I shared some of those last Wednesday. One that I had posted about was make ahead breakfast bowls. I put these together Sunday and am so excited to try them out. I tasted the roasted potato, pepper, and onion mixture when it was done and oh my word, so yummy! I just know everything together will be so good.
Reading. I was able to get in some quality reading time this weekend. I finished Teresa Guidice's book on Sunday. Be looking for a review later this week!
Linking up with Biana.
Bummer the Boss wasn't exactly what you expected, I hate when movies turn out that way. Good to hear it's funny though, I 'll wait for it to come out on DVD.
ReplyDeleteYUM to breakfast food prep, your mixture sounds like my eggs every morning, delicious! Have a great day!
I had a feeling The Boss would be that way. I might just wait on it to come out in Redbox! And I finished a book this weekend too--have you ever read anything by Joshilyn Jackson?

I feel like I've heard that review from a lot of people about the Boss...I'll just wait for it to come to iTunes lol!! That Gyro looks so good and now i'm starving!! Happy monday! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeletei saw the rotten tomatoes review on it, so i skipped it. i saw everybody wants some--it's by the director who did boyhood and dazed and confused. it was pretty good.
ReplyDeleteI hate when you get really excited about a movie and then it doesn't live up to expectations. Those gyros look AMAZING though! Happy Monday!<3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a gyro in yearssss.. I'll have to pick one up soon!
ReplyDeleteChristina :: Simple and Delish
Glad that you liked the movie, overall. It definitely looked like one that would be over the top. I'll probably wait for it on Netflix rather than see it in the theater after your review.
ReplyDeleteThose gyros...oh my word! They look incredible!!
Sounds like a great weekend!

Oooh, interested in Teresa's book!! Sorry the movie wasn't quite as good, sometimes those goofball movies get a little obnoxious but I had high hopes for that one too.
ReplyDeleteMake ahead breakfast is a great idea- Michael sometimes runs out of time to make it before he leaves so I've always wanted to get into this habit.
ReplyDeleteMmm, gyros are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI feel like a lot of movies similar to the boss just end up more over-exaggerated than funny. Bummer it was not as good as you wanted!

We went and saw The Boss this weekend too! Not sure it's my favorite movie ever, but definitely funny.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome you had such a relaxing weekend! And that gyro looks amazing. I haven't had one in so long...now I really could go for one! Happy Monday!

ReplyDeleteI hate when movies don't live up to what you're expecting, but at least you got a few laughs! That meal prep sounds so good, can't wait to see the final result! Have a great Monday!

ReplyDeleteHmmm...good to know your review of The Boss. I'll probably skip that one...
ReplyDeleteI saw Everybody Wants Some!!! this weekend, and it was SO GOOD. so good. I loved it!
I have never had a gyro, but that looks delicious! Sounds like the perfect, low-key weekend!
ReplyDeleteDang, I hate to hear that about The Boss. I've been wanting to see it as well and I was worried that it might be too over the top ridiculous. I hate when movies try too hard to be crazy and don't turn out as funny as they should be.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a great weekend, and I'm sorry that The Boss didn't fully live up to your expectations. I can't wait to hear what you think of Teresa's book! I love all of the housewives, especially New Jersey!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever had a proper gyro but it looks delicious! I can't wait to hear what you thought of Teresa's book, I'm so intrigued by her!
ReplyDeleteI love Gyro's!! There is a great place down here in Houston for them and I love it :) Happy Monday!! P.s. Love your breakfast prep! So much easier for the week!
ReplyDeleteMake ahead breakfast bowls sound like something I need in my life ASAP! For real. Off to check them out! I'm hoping to get some more reading time in over these next few weeks as we are waiting for the baby. It was a busy winter and I've read like, 2 books in the last 4 months - maybe longer!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, those breakfast bowls sound amazing!! I've never had a Gyro either but now I soooo want one!!
ReplyDeleteGood to know about the movie. I really love movies with Melissa McCarthy so I was hoping to see it this weekend but didn't find the time. I'll probably still see it but be prepared for the ending. lol
ReplyDeleteI heard the same thing about The Boss. I had high hopes but I think I might just wait for it to come out on demand! And that breakfast recipe sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great relaxing weekend. I can't wait to hear what you think about Teresa's book, I'm curious to read that too. I had a feeling the movie was going to be a bit outrageous, I'll still probably watch because I love Melissa McCarthy!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had gyros in forever, they are so good though. I usually get one with beef or lamb.
ReplyDeleteWe never see movies in the theatres unless they have really good reviews and since yours didn't sound that great about the Boss I guess we'll wait for it to come out on DVD.
