Friday Favorites 10.30.15

Happy Friday! I am linking up with MomfessionalsA Little Bit of Everything Blog, and Grace and Love Blog for my Friday Favorites

and A. Liz Adventures for Five on Friday.

Starting my new job!  This has been a long time coming, but I finally started my new position this week.  I am super excited about it!  It's definitely bittersweet...I had been in my previous group for almost 5 years.  I got some really sweet cards and we had an awesome happy hour on Tuesday night for my "going away."  It was a mix of previous co-workers and my new bosses, which was super appreciated.  It's a bit of a busy time for everyone right now, so the fact that they took time away to help me celebrate really meant a lot.

Halloween presents!  My mom always sends packages to us for the holidays.  We usually get something for Halloween, Valentine's Day and sometimes Easter if we aren't able to all be together that day.  It's always fun to see what she comes up with!  This year I got a new blanket scarf, some candy and a gift card to Panera.  I love it all!  Thanks, Mom! (and Dad!)

Hallmark's Countdown to Christmas.  I saw on instagram that Hallmark's Countdown to Christmas starts this weekend!  I am a sucker for cheesy Hallmark movies, especially the holiday ones.  My DVR is definitely going to fill up with a BUNCH of holiday movies between now and Christmas.  I can't wait!

Kate Spade Surprise Sale.  I received an email on Tuesday that Kate Spade was having a surprise sale.  Normally I just delete these emails without reading, because I do not need to always be buying something.  However, this time I looked and ended up with a small wallet and necklace.  I can't wait to see these both in person!

Freshly painted nails.  I went with two of my favorites this week...Don't Sweater It for my toes and Master Plan for my fingers.  Both perfect fall colors.

dont sweater it - neutrals by essie

master plan - grays by essie

Master Plan has been a favorite for a few years now.  I am in the mood for some new colors to add to the rotation, though.  Any suggestions?  Also, has anyone tried the gel top coats?  I have been seeing the Essie duos pop up on different blogs, the ones where you get a color and the gel top coat.  I haven't been able to find those.  Granted, I have just checked Target and Ulta, but I would think both would have them!  I love the idea of having a gel top coat to make the paint job last longer...I just am not sure which one is the best!  Please leave recommendations if you have any!

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and a Happy Halloween!  Make sure to check out my favorite post of the week, over at Astleigh's blog for The Pick link up.

All Hallows' Eve

It's almost Halloween!  I thought I would pull together some of my favorite Halloween pins to share in honor of the holiday!

We don't call it All Hallows Eve enough! . . Okay can I just jump in this picture and enjoy the cozy fire?!:

Halloween decorations : IDEAS & INSPIRATIONS Halloween Decor:

Although I more decorate for fall than Halloween, I love the look of these two pins.  The top is a little spooky and more dramatic, but still very tasteful.  The pumpkins are right up my alley in this second one.  The leaves and branches in the basket add a lot of color, which I think really helps balance out the more "Halloween" decorations of the bats and birds.

Just glue or ... use double sided sticky tape to put some wiggly eyes on to plastic cups for ANY fun event. Eyes are found at dollar stores and craft stores.:

Halloween Mummy Hot Dogs Made with Pillsbury Crescent Rolls

for party?:

How fun would these be for a Halloween party?  You could personalize the cups by drawing different faces on the cups to go along with the eyes.  The mummy crescent dogs look so yummy...I think I need to make those for myself this weekend!  The ghost suckers are so simple and just so cute.  Definitely a great favor for a Halloween party.

Might have to do this in Fort people carve pumpkins in Florida??:

The Pumpkin house Kenova, West Virginia @ashmckni

I am hoping to get a chance to carve my own pumpkin this weekend.  How cool is the picture of the Tinkerbell pumpkin?!  There is no way I would have the creativity or patience to execute that, but I can sure admire it from afar.  And this house with all the different pumpkins...I just love this.  The house just glows with all the pumpkins, and it is so neat looking at all the different carvings.

Halloween is such a fun holiday.  Just looking at these pins have gotten me more into the spirit of All Hallows' Eve. Although I don't have big plans to celebrate, I definitely enjoy all the festivity that comes with Halloween.  Hope you all have a great Thursday!

What's Up Wednesday 10.28.15

I am linking up for What's Up Wednesday with Mix and Match Family, Pinterest Told Me To and The Larson Lingo. And with my usual Wednesday favorites, Jenn and Jessi for What's Hap-pinning Wednesday!

What I'm eating this week...beef fasolia, yum!  This week has highs in the low 60's so warm, yummy comfort food is what's on the menu!

What I'm reminiscing about...this past year.  It has flown by with a lot of ups and's hard to believe only a few months until it is 2016.

What I'm loving...getting organized.  I spent a good portion of my Sunday going through a bunch of old papers.  It felt really good getting everything in order.  I think it will make it much easier for me going forward to put things where they go, as opposed to just piling them up to go through at a later date.

What I've been up to...enjoying this time of year!  With trips to the pumpkin patch, winery, I have been trying to get out and enjoy this gorgeous weather and time of  year before the dreaded winter comes!

What I'm payments.  I am so excited to get my new car sometime next month, but I am not too excited about having a car payment again.  Less money for fun shopping!

What I'm working planning.  Sometimes I do well at this, other times, not so much.  I am definitely trying to get ahead as much as possible and be more efficient when it comes to my blog posts.  Always a work in progress, though.

What I'm excited about...starting my new job!  Today is the big day.  I am so excited, yet so nervous.  I feel like I have been waiting on this day for so long, it's hard to believe it is actually here!

What I'm watching...lots and lots of TV, with a few movies sprinkled in there.  I saw Rudy for the first time this past weekend, and next in line is Hoosiers...I love a good sports movie.  Also, I have three new Hallmark movies just waiting to be watched on my DVR.  Hard to believe that it will be the start of their countdown to Christmas this weekend!

What I'm listening to...nothing in particular.  Just whatever suits my fancy on the radio.  Pretty soon it will be time for Christmas music...I can't wait!

What I'm wearing...these booties.  I got TOMs booties for Christmas last year and they have been on repeat so far this fall.  They are super comfortable to walk around in...when we were in Chicago a few weekends ago, I wore them the whole time!  I love the look and like I said...they are SO comfortable.

What I'm doing this weekend...hopefully carving pumpkins!  I don't really have any set plans for this weekend, but I am sure something will pop up!  I also plan on picking up a little candy, just in case someone comes trick or treating!

What I'm looking forward to next much!  My nephew is getting baptized, getting my new car, Thanksgiving, Black Friday...the fun just doesn't stop!

What else is new...not only am I just looking forward to Jack's baptism because it will be so nice to see my family, I am even more excited because my brother and sister-in-law asked me to be his godmother!  I am so honored!

What is my favorite Thanksgiving I mentioned in my "fall about me" post, my favorite thing at Thanksgiving are the dumplings.  It just wouldn't be Thanksgiving without them!

What's up with you this Wednesday?!

Beef & Noodles

It's Tuesday...that means it's recipe day!  Today I have for you another one of my favorite cold-weather comfort meals.  My mom made this for us when we were growing up.  It was always a good night when this was on the menu!

The best part is, this recipe is super easy.  Like handful of ingredients, use your crockpot, easy.  This recipe makes enough for four adults.

Beef & Noodles
1 lb stew meat
2 cans of beef broth
1/2 Tablespoon of onion powder
10 grinds of black pepper
1 package of Reames egg noodles (in the freezer section)

Add beef, broth, onion powder and black pepper to your crockpot.  Cook on low for 6-8 hours.  Pour crockpot contents into a pot.  Add noodles to pot, cooking over medium heat until noodles are cooked through, about 15-20 minutes.  Enjoy!

If I don't have beef broth on hand, I just subsitute with beef buillon cubes and water!  A Super simple, and very delicious meal.

Weekend Recap

Hey all!  I hope everyone had a great weekend.  How is it Monday already?  I definitely think the idea of a constant 3 day weekend needs to catch day to have fun, one day to do responsible stuff (grocery shopping, cleaning, meal planning) and one day to just relax!  Wouldn't that be so nice?

I had a pretty great weekend.  Friday was the usual...the movies.  We saw Steve Jobs - it was pretty interesting.  However, it was kind of long and I got SUPER tired during it.  I also felt like it jumped around a lot, with no good transitions.  I would say it was still a decent movie, though.  Just not one of my very favorites.

Saturday began with a trip to Chandler Hill Winery.  I have been to this winery a few times, and was really looking forward to going back again.  It is only about 20-30 minutes away from my apartment, but it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere.  I think last weekend must have been the peak for the trees, but it still was very pretty.  I tried to get a few pictures, but they just do not do it justice.  The winery is on top of a hill, and has a HUGE deck with a bunch of tables.  We decided to go first thing, which was definitely the right move.  It filled up fast.  We arrived only about 10 minutes after the open time, but the bar was already very crowded, as was the outside.  Had we been 15 minutes later, I think we would have had a hard time finding a table!  We enjoyed some wine, along with a few appetizers.  The weather was a bit on the chilly side when there was a breeze, but once we started drinking our wine, the weather became very comfortable.  The rest of the day was spend just relaxing.

Sunday I met with one of my best friends for brunch.  We decided to try out Jimmy's on the Park.  The restaurant was in a super cute area.  If the weather had been nicer, it would have been the perfect little place to sit outside.  Afterwards, we ventured to Whole Foods.  I have only been to Whole Foods once before, and I basically went in and turned back around shortly after, because it was just too crazy.  I was so impressed this time though.  We went to a different location and it wasn't nearly as packed as the other place had been.  There were so many good things I want to try!  We headed back to her place for a bit of Lifetime movie watching, before I decided I needed to get on my grocery shopping for the day.  I spent the afternoon reading and cleaning/organizing.  Overall, it was a pretty productive day!

Now, onto another work week.  This week is special for me, as I finally get to start my new job on Wednesday!  I am very excited and very nervous.  Hope you all have a marvelous Monday!  Linking up with Biana for Weekending.

Friday Favorites 10.23.15

I am SO happy it is Friday! I am linking up with MomfessionalsA Little Bit of Everything Blog, and Grace and Love Blog for my Friday Favorites

and A. Liz Adventures for Five on Friday.

Signing online for UPS packages.  This week I realized you can set up an account for UPS.  This will allow you to sign online for packages that need a signature for delivery.  You even are given options of where the package will be left.  I was pumped about learning this.  Normally if I get a package, it is delivered before I make it home from work.  Then I have to go up to the office to pick it up, which is not one of my favorite things.  I think it bothers me because I drive past the office to get to my apartment.  So when I get home from work and want to just take off my shoes and relax, I have to head back out to get my package.  I know...such a tough life...but this is just a little thing I have discovered that makes life a bit easier!

Surprise packages!  I received a Cubs shirt in the mail this week from a HUGE Cardinals fan.  Although the Cubs swept was really hard to watch, I am so excited about the thoughtful present and I am hoping to have the opportunity to wear it again next year!  Go Cubs Go!

Gigi New York.  So this was a favorite last week, however, I actually got my all in one bag this week.  I am obsessed.  The quality is so nice.  I am already eyeing the website for more things to buy!

Alphabet workouts.  I don't know if this is the technical name, but this is what I am calling it.  I joined a fitness group this past week via instagram.  I saw it posted and thought, why not?!  The goal is to keep each other motivated, which is definitely something I needed!  The girl behind the group, Ashlee sends work outs, as well as healthy recipes (specifically pumpkin ones!).  My favorite was the alphabet workout.  Each letter of the alphabet was assigned an exercise.  The goal was to do the exercises that spelled out your full name.  I thought it was so fun!  And it gave me a great work out.  To see the full alphabet of exercises, check out Ashlee's instagram, ash2ee_fitmom.  She has two little adorable boys and looks absolutely amazing!  Definitely a great source of inspiration, as well as information...she is a NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) Certified Personal Trainer.

Walks outside.  I had a haircut after work yesterday, so instead of heading to the gym, I decided to take a walk/run when I got home from my appointment.  Although it was unseasonably warm (84!), it felt so nice to get out and enjoy this time of year.  I know that the cold weather is looming ahead, and while I am actually a little excited for it, I know I will miss the opportunities to get outside.

Hope you all have a great weekend!  Make sure to check out my favorite post of the week, over at Astleigh's blog for The Pick link up.

Fall About Me

I came across this post idea on Lindsay's blog and thought it was perfect, especially following my "falling for fall" post yesterday.  Fall about all about me, fall themed!

Favorite candle scent - Yankee Candle Spiced Pumpkin.
This is my all-time favorite fall candle.  I like to buy the big jars when on sale, then burn them as much as possible.  I actually just ran out of one, so I need to be making a trip to the store soon!

Best fragrance for fall - I don't change up my perfume according to the seasons.  My go to is DKNY Be Delicious.  I like lighter, more fresh scents and this one fits the bill!

Beverage of choice - Hot Chocolate.  I am not a coffee drinker so the Pumpkin Spice Latte is not for me.  However, I LOVE me some hot chocolate.  Especially with marshmallows, or whipped cream.  For a more "spirited" drink, I love apple cider/juice mixed with Fireball.  SO delicious.  My sister in law had this at my brother's 30th birthday party last year, and I have been loving it since!

Favorite Thanksgiving food - Dumplings.  My mom's side of the family is Bohemian-Czech, so we always have dumplings and sauerkraut at holiday meals.  The dumplings, topped with gravy, are the best!

Best fall memory - Nothing stands out specifically.  I just love the time around Thanksgiving...being with family, the food and then the shopping the next day!

Favorite type of pie - Peanut butter.  I am actually not a big pie person.  I want to like it, but I just don't.  We had a food day at work years ago and someone made a peanut butter pie...that was delicious.  I haven't had it since, but if I had to choose a pie, that would be it!

Most worn sweater - Old Navy boyfriend cardigan.  I bought three last year, and you can almost always find me wearing one on the weekends.

Describe autumn where you live - It depends on the year, honestly.  This year it has been lots of cool mornings (40-50's), warm afternoons (70-80's), back to cool evenings.  In my mind, fall would ideally be in the 60's...all day.  I think we are starting to get into more that type of weather, but for example, today is supposed to be in the 80's again.  It is just all over the place!

Football games or Leaf piles - Definitely leaf piles!  I have lots of good memories raking leaves and jumping in them growing up.  Fall also means football to me, because I was a cheerleader throughout school, but if I had to pick, I would go for the leaves!

Fall song - I can't say there is one that makes me think of fall!

Dark lips or Winged liner - I would have to go more with the winged liner...but honestly, I don't do either!  I have just started experimenting with lipstick, and I am definitely not that talented with my eyeliner.  I think Lindsay needs to give me some tips...hers is on point!

Pumpkin spice worth the hype - If you are talking about the lattes, then to me, no.  But if you are just talking about the smell, or yummy dessert, then heck yes!

Fall TV show - I have been loving a bunch of shows this fall...Modern Family, Limitless, Quantico, The Grinder, Grandfathered, The Big Bang Theory, Castle, Amazing Race...all great!  My ultimate favorite "fall" show would have to be Friday Night Lights.  It is just SO good.

Combat boots or Uggs - I am for sure an Uggs girl.  I love them.  I have the tall ones, short ones and moccasins.  I love the look of the camo boots folded down, but I haven't ever gotten myself a pair.

Skinny jeans or Leggings - Skinny jeans.  I like leggings, but I have yet to find a pair that I really love that I feel are nice enough to wear out.

Halloween - yay or nay - Yay!  Although, I don't have any big plans, I do really enjoy the holiday.    Carving pumpkins, dressing up and eating can you not enjoy Halloween?!

Black Friday thoughts - I am a huge fan of Black Friday.  Although, I feel like the deals aren't as good as they used to be, and it gets earlier and earlier, I still love going shopping on Black Friday.  It's a big tradition for me and my mom to go shopping on Black Friday.  We get a ton of Christmas shopping done, usually making multiple trips to the car.  It's a super tiring day, but at the same time, super fun!

Fall mornings or evenings - Definitely mornings.  I love the cool mornings and the sunrises are just gorgeous!  It gets darker so much earlier in the evenings, which makes me so tired when I get home after work.

2015 Fall Trend - Flare jeans!  I haven't gotten a pair yet, but I used to LOVE my flare jeans.  I am definitely on the look out for the perfect flares.

What are your fall favorites?!

Falling for fall...

Hey all!  Happy Wednesday.  I am linking up with Jenn and Jessi for another round of What's Hap-pinning Wednesday.

Have you all noticed the amazing fall scenes on Pinterest?  I am sure you have, as they are everywhere.  Today I am sharing with you some of my favorites!

Why I love Autumn so much!:

.glorious autumn:

All these pictures are just so gorgeous!  I feel as if they are all the epitome of what fall should look like.  I love all the colors of the gorgeous trees.  It would be just fine with me if it were fall year round, especially if I lived in one of these places!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Weekend Recap + Eventbrite

Hey all!  Happy Monday!  Let's get started with a recap of my weekend...

I headed to the movies Friday evening.  I feel like this has been my past few Fridays which is awesome for me!  I absolutely love the movies.  We saw Bridges of Spies...such a GREAT movie.  Normally, I am not a Tom Hanks fan.  Why; I am not really sure.  But he did SO good in the movie.  Definitely a must-see.  Afterwards, we grabbed some dinner before heading home.  For some reason, it was a super long week at work, so by the end of Friday, I was worn out!

Saturday morning was spent doing one of my favorite fall things...heading to the pumpkin patch!  Eckert's has been a favorite since college, so we headed there bright and early to avoid some of the crowd.  One of the reasons I love going there, is because they take you out to the fields to pick your pumpkin.  They have a bunch picked if you just want to grab one and go, but I like the experience of actually going to the field to pick pumpkins.  We made short work of finding our pumpkins, then headed back to the main area to check out the country store.  They have so many goodies there - caramel apples, salsas, meats, baked goods...the list goes on.  We filled up a basket of things to try and headed home.

We stopped for burgers at O'Connell's Pub after the pumpkin patch.  We stumbled upon this place last winter and have been wanting to go back for awhile.  The atmosphere of this place is SO neat.  The lighting is super dark, and there is wood everywhere.  This is a bar area, as well as a dining room.  The menu is very simple, but very delicious.  Sometimes simple is the way to go.  We oped for the burgers, which to me, is always a good idea.  Onion rings and fries were the two sides of choice.  Everything was just delicious.  We ended the meal by splitting a gooey butter cake cookie.  Yum!

Sunday was spent relaxing and catching up around the apartment.  I headed to Target, and I am happy to say I think I only left with one thing not on the list...impressive!  Unfortunately, I ended up without a few items that were on the list - note to self, when you head to Target on a Sunday night, the shelves might be a little emptier than normal!  I headed home to make pumpkin squares for work...they are a fall favorite.  Check back in a few weeks for the recipe - it is definitely one worth sharing!

If you have been reading here for awhile, you know I love taking advantage of where I live...whether it be checking out local restaurants, or the local sites.  I have struggled a bit with finding the "fun" stuff that goes on in the city - there are so many neat festivals/fairs that I hear about after the fact.  Enter Eventbrite.  A website that helps people find and plan events.  When I heard about this website, it sounded right up my alley.  You can use it to find fun things to do, as well as promote your own event with their event management software.  Definitely a win in my book!

Hope you all had a great weekend.  I am linking up with Biana for Weekending.

Friday Favorites 10.16.15

Finally Friday! I am linking up with MomfessionalsA Little Bit of Everything Blog, and Grace and Love Blog for my Friday Favorites

and A. Liz Adventures for Five on Friday.

Fall scents.  I walked into the grocery store last night and it smelled heavenly.  Pumpkin/apple was amazing.  I am not sure where it came from or what exactly the smell was, but holy cow I could have stayed in there all night.  That's saying a lot considering the grocery store is probably one of my least favorites places to be!

Bacon wrapped pork chops.  This may sound like a bit much, pork and more pork, but it really was good!  I need to tweak the recipe a bit, but once I get it right, I will be sharing it with you all!

Sweet Valley books.  Pinky @ Pink Persistence reminded me of my love of Francine Pascal's Sweet Valley series yesterday...did anyone else read them?  I was obsessed.  Between those, Babysitter Club and Nancy Drew, my nose was always stuck in a book back in the day.  I feel like I need to reread them all, right now...AND I just found out that there was a Sweet Valley University series...I think I must have stopped at Sweet Valley High.  If you aren't familiar with these books, look them up ASAP.

Gigi New York.  I made my first Gigi New York purchase this week during their Friends & Family sale.  I ordered the All in One Bag, and I cannot wait to get it in the mail.

I plan on using this to corral some items in my larger purse, that way things are a bit more organized in there.  From what I hear, the quality is amazing which definitely makes me more excited for it to come in the mail.  The pouch is multi-purpose, too.  I can use it in my larger purse for organization, as well as a clutch when needed.  It's a win-win!

Cubs win!  Although my post Wednesday was all about the Cubs winning, I feel like it is worth noting again.  Let's hope they can keep up the good work going forward!

Hope you all have a fabulous Friday!  Make sure to check out The Pick link up, over at Astleigh's blog, for my favorite post of the week!

Versatile Blogger

Finally Thursday!  I thought all day yesterday that it was Thursday...and now it is finally here.  Usually thinking it is a day closer to the weekend when it is not, is really unfortunate, but this time I was glad to be wrong considering the piles of work that I need to get done before the end of the week!

Tara, over at A Hill Country Heart, nominated me for The Versatile Blogger Award...thanks so much, Tara!  Getting nominated really means so much!

The rules for this are as follows...thank/link to the person who nominated you, share 7 facts about yourself and then nominate some of your other favorites.

1.  I have horrible eyesight.  Without glasses or contacts, I am so blind.  I am nearsighted, so I can read or look at my phone without my glasses/contacts, but other than that, everything is just a blur.  When I was younger, I was the only one in my family without glasses.  Now, I have the worse eyesight out of them all!

2.  Total geek alert...when I was younger (5th grade), I read all the Newbery Award winner books.  It was a challenge issued by my 5th grade teacher - we were to read the books, give a short oral book report and repeat until we were done with the list.  My efforts spilled over into the summer, but I did it!  There are a ton more award winners out there since I was in 5th grade, so I can only imagine how difficult of a task that would be now.  One of the most memorable books I read was The Story of Mankind....I just remember it being a huge struggle to make it through this book.  I have half a mind to check it out now, see how it compares to what I remember.

3.  My favorite movie of all time is Dirty Dancing...nobody puts Baby in the corner!

4.  I don't like pictures of myself which is why my posts never include pictures with me in them!  I am just very particular about what I think looks good/bad.  That is something I want to work on though!

5.  I love purses.  I tend to go for more expensive purses, but I usually use them for quite some time so I feel like I get my money's worth.  Granted my budget doesn't include some of my dream bags, like a Burberry bag, but one of those is definitely on my wishlist!

6.  I don't like spicy food.  I want to like it, but I just can't handle the heat.  Even things that others say are pretty mild, I usually find really hot.

7.  Give me a glass of red wine, or a margarita and you will have one happy girl.  Those are definitely my two drinks of choice.  My love for red wine started a few years ago, but now that is my go-to, specifically Pinot Noir.  Margaritas are always a good idea, too.  I usually go for a regular one on the rocks...that just tastes the best to me!

Hopefully you were able to learn a few new things about me!  Now for my nominations...

Tara hit some of my faves, so I am just going to put it out there for anyone reading...if you are interested in participating, the more the merrier!  I always love finding out more about the girls behind the blogs!

Go Cubs Go...

Another Wednesday, another What's Hap-pinning link up with Jenn and Jessi.

Today I am focusing on the Chicago Cubs.  As I have mentioned before, I live in the St. Louis area.  In the past year or two, I have become more open to the idea of being a Cardinals is everything in this city and the Cardinals are pretty darn good.  However, when it came time for the Cardinals to play the Cubs in the playoffs, my loyalty for the Cubs shined through.

I grew up surrounded by Cubs fans.  You can drive through my hometown and see dozens of homes with "W" flags proudly flown after a Cub win.  My grandpa (on my mom's side) was a HUGE Cubs fan, as pretty much everyone on my Dad's side of the family...and he is one of 10!  When my grandpa got sick, I remember my mom saying that she wished the Cubs would win the World Series, so that he could see that in his lifetime.  Unfortunately, that didn't happen, but I know he is up there, celebrating last night's win with us as the Cubs get one step closer to the World Series!

In honor of the Cubs big win over the Cardinals last night, I am linking up some of my favorite Cubs pins.

Chicken Noodle Soup

Today I am going to share with you one of my favorite recipes ever, chicken noodle soup.

This soup is the best.  My mom spoiled us growing up by always making homemade soup.  I always crave this when I am not feeling well, and to me, no other chicken noodle soup compares.  This recipe freezes really well, so when I make it, I always like to split it up, and keep some in the freezer for a later date.

Chicken Noodle Soup
1 package of drumsticks
1/2 onion, cut in half
3 chicken bouillon cubes
5 cups of water
1 stalk of celery
noodles (any will work)
parsley flakes

In a large pot, combine chicken, onion, celery, bouillon and water.  Simmer and cover for three hours.  After the contents have simmered for three hours, strain liquid into a large bowl.  Return broth to the large pot on the stove.  Add noodles and cook on low-medium heat.  Remove chicken from bone, adding chicken pieces back into the broth.  Sprinkle with parsley flakes.  Enjoy!

If you are planning to refrigerate/freeze the soup, let cool the soup cool for 10 minutes before putting away.  As for the noodles, the ones I used in the batch pictured are kluski egg noodles, but you can change what type of noodles you use depending on your preference!  Also, the amount of noodles used varies according to your tastes, too!  I tend to like a lot of noodles, so I add quite a bit, but you can add as much or as a little as you like.

Weekend Recap

Another weekend has come and gone...happy Monday!

Friday was pretty low-key at work.  Since Saturday was going to be another work day, I was able to leave a little earlier on Friday, which is always nice!  We headed to the movies to see The Martian.  I really like Matt Damon, and I think he does really well in this movie.  However, some parts I thought were a little slow and anti-climatic.  I would have loved to see more of how he lived on Mars and have less focus be on the people back on Earth, trying to figure out how to get to him.  I would still recommend going to see the movie, though, especially if you are a Matt Damon fan.

Saturday was absolutely gorgeous out.  I really lucked out and was able to be out of work around noon.  The leaves around here have started to change, so we decided to take a little drive.  There is a State Park, Babler Park, not too far away from here that we decided to check out.  Although the leaves haven't really peaked, there was still quite a bit of change that was just so pretty!  Also, we checked out the statue of the namesake of the park, Dr. Babler.  I have never heard of him before, so it was a bit of a learning experience.

The early evening was spent watching the Cubs/Cards game...the Cubs won!  I was pretty excited about that - I just wanted them to win at least one game in the series!  Right now, the series is tied 1-1, with the teams moving to Chicago for the next two games.  They play again today, so we will see how that one turns out!

It seems the theme of the weekend was relaxing...Sunday was probably more so that way than anything else.  Lots of tv watching and well as normal weekend chores, like cleaning and laundry sprinkled in there.

Hope you all had a great weekend!  Linking up with Biana for Weekending!
