Friday Favorites 7.30.15

It's Friday!  I am linking up with Momfessionals, A Little Bit of Everything Blog, and Grace and Love Blog for my Friday Favorites...

and A. Liz Adventures for Five on Friday.

New magazines.  I subscribe to a few different magazines and it is always a good day when I get one in the mail!  Normally the mail is filled with ads or bills, so a magazine is a nice change!
Birthday parties.  I have a second birthday party to attend this weekend.  I am excited to celebrate this sweet little girl.  What makes it even better, is that I get to see some of my sorority sisters at the party.  It's always nice being able to see each other face-to-face, rather than just talk over text.
Restocks.  I was super bummed when I got one of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale items in the mail and it was too big.  When I looked that night, the shirt was out of stock in the smaller size I needed.  I checked the next day and the size had been restocked.  I was SO excited.  I ordered that shirt ASAP.  Hopefully the smaller size will work!
Finding new blogs.  I have found so many good blogs to start reading via all the link ups I have done this week!  It was the week of link ups for me...I did one almost everyday.  It is so amazing to me how big the blogging community is.  There are SO many blogs out reading list keeps growing!
Losing weight.  I weighed myself earlier this week and the number on the scale was lower than before!  Even though it is just by a pound or two, I am so excited.  I have been working hard, and it makes it even better to see some real results.  I have felt better about my body, just in general, but seeing the number drop definitely made it feel more real and gave me some extra motivation to keep up with eating better and working out consistently.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Owning It 7.30.15

Where has the month gone?! As it is the last Thursday of the month, I am linking up with Christina at The New Mrs.

With this link up, I get to 'fess up to some of my quirks and own them.  Without further ado...
I have a small sunglass obsession.  I have two in my purse at all times, sometimes three.  Just in case something happens to the other pair.  I have two pairs in a small basket in my apartment where I put my keys as back ups, as well as an extra pair in my car.  My eyes are super sensitive to the sun, or just glare-y weather so I always want to be prepared...even if it is a little excessive.
I color code my Skittles or M&M's before I eat them.  It's a little OCD.  Separating Skittles makes a little more sense because the flavors are different, but M&M's not so much.  I make little piles of the colors and then eat them according to my favorites.  With M&M's, I like to keep one of each color for the very end to eat all together.  It's odd, I know.  It feels even more odd when typing it out!
My favorite number is 5.  It has been since I was little.  A few reasons could be because Emily has 5 letters and "e" is the fifth letter of the alphabet.  But if I really put some thought into it, I think it goes back to grade school...because my last name starts with a D, I was usually towards the beginning when lining up according to last name, normally, the fifth person in line.  It just stuck.
I love mac n cheese.  LOVE it.  When I was younger though, I would only eat the character shaped mac n cheese.  I didn't want to eat the regular noodles, and I definitely didn't want the shells.  I realize there is no difference in taste, but I only wanted the shapes.  Luckily I have grown out of that...granted, it wasn't until college, but that's here nor there.  Even though I will eat other kinds now, if I am buying mac n cheese you can bet there will be one box with shapes in my cart.
I don't like pie with fruit in it.  I don't even always like pie with something like chocolate pudding as a filling either.  I want to like pie.  When having lunch or dinner with my mom's side of the family, pie is usually always on the menu for dessert.  I always felt like something was wrong with me because it seemed that I was the only one who didn't eat pie.  However, there is just something about it I don't necessarily care for.
I am constantly worried about leaving my straightener plugged in when I leave for work.  There have been many a times where I am in my car, ready to leave and suddenly wonder if I unplugged it or not.  Or I have just locked the door to leave and then start to question if I did or not, so I have to open back up the door to check.  It is crazy sometimes...I have ended up running late because of going back to check.  It is just a huge fear I have!
I am super clumsy.  I run into walls, furniture, pretty much anything around my apartment.  I just cut the corner too fast, or think I have more room than I do.  I often have a bruise on my leg from running into the coffee table or the chest I have in my bedroom.  Those things just come out of nowhere!  It definitely worsens when I am wearing my glasses, too.  I feel like I just lose part of my peripheral vision.  I can imagine it is super humorous to anyone that sees me, but sometimes it really hurts!
I am indifferent about French fries.  I feel like a ton of people love and crave them.  I am not one of them.  I am not saying I don't like them, but most times I order a different side instead of fries.  When I was younger, my skin was really bad.  I tried a ton of different things to get rid of my acne.  One of the medicines I took, I wasn't supposed to eat greasy, fried food with.  Therefore, no fries.  I am wondering if my mom just told me that back then to keep me away from fries and eating healthier, but either way I am definitely thankful she didn't let me eat them because now they are one less "bad" thing I crave.  Thanks, Mom!
I have Chapstick with me at all times.  To make sure that happens, I have one in my nightstand, one in my purse, one at work and like the sunglasses, one in the small basket where my keys are.  I hate having dry lips.  I used to just take one with me, but then I would forget it somewhere, like work, and not have it at home.  I buy multiple tubes and distribute them accordingly to all their "places."  Some people might think it is a little over the top, but I just like to think of myself as organized/prepared.
I think those are all the confessions I will be making for now.  You can check out last month's owning it post here.

What's Up Wednesday 7.29.15

Today is the last Wednesday of the month, therefore I am linking up with Mix and Match Family, Pinterest Told Me To and The Larson Lingo for What's Up Wednesday!

What I'm eating this week...Mediterranean Pork Chops.  I made this recipe Monday night with rice and cucumbers on the side and they were so yummy.  Really hit the spot.  And there was enough for leftovers...even better!
What I'm reminiscing about...being in school.  I was at Target this weekend and saw a ton of people doing their back-to-school shopping.  That was one thing I always loved...buying new notebooks, pencils, pens...everything!  Since I no longer get to go school supply shopping, I have to make do with enjoying the office supplies at work.  You can bet I have three different sizes of post-it notes at my desk!
What I'm loving...the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!  I know this has been on repeat for the last month, but unfortunately I have to return some of my purchases.  They just didnt fit quite right.  I feel like that means I can buy some other things in place of my returns.  I am excited to check out what is still left!
What I've been up out my clothes!  I finally got through the rest of my closet this past weekend.  It feels SO good to have that accomplished.
What I'm dreading...buying a new phone.  I broke the top button on my phone last week.  My battery life has been really bad, so I knew a new phone would be in the works soon, but I feel like after having broken the button, the time is coming faster than I had anticipated.  For some reason, purchasing things like new phones, computers, etc...are just not my thing.  I would much rather buy clothes, shoes, or a new purse!
What I'm working on...eating healthier.  I have been doing a relatively good job at this lately and I hope I can keep it up!  Sometimes the bad food is just hard to resist.  I have learned that I need to allow myself some cheats, that way I don't feel deprived and overload on bad stuff.
What I'm excited niece/nephew!  I know this is something I have been excited about for a long time, but it is getting closer and closer!  I cannot wait for word from my brother on the baby.
What I'm watching...Real Housewives of Orange County.  I really like this season thus far.  I feel like the stupid drama is at a minimum and it is good to see everyone getting along.  There are still major story lines going on, but I am just happy that there isn't all the backstabbing that normally you see on these shows.  Hopefully that will continue!
What I'm listening to...Jason Aldean.  I love me some Jason Aldean.  He has some of my favorite songs on the radio right now.
What I'm wearing...braids and dresses.  With this crazy heat and humidity we have been having, throwing on a light sun dress and putting my hair in a side braid is the perfect way to beat the heat.  I did this while running errands on Sunday and I am so glad I went that route.
What I'm doing this weekend...attending a 2nd birthday party!  One of my good friend's daughter is turning 2 in August.  They are throwing her a Minnie Mouse themed party.  Her birthday is more towards the end of August, but since my friend is pregnant with baby number 2 and due at the end of August, they decided to do the party early.  It will be super fun celebrating her sweet little girl, as well as seeing some of my other sorority sisters!
What I'm looking forward to next month...again, my niece/nephew.  Baby Dunham's arrival is being anxiously awaited!
What else is of my other favorite link-ups is tomorrow - Owning It with Christina from The New Mrs.  I can't wait!
What will I miss most about summer...the long days!  One thing I hate about the seasons changing is how early it gets dark.  It makes me SO sleepy.  As excited as I am for fall, I definitely will miss all the daylight hours that come with summer.
What's up with you this Wednesday?!

Weekend Recap

I can't believe it is Monday already.  Where does the weekend go?!  Always too quick!  I had a pretty low-key weekend, which was so nice.

Friday started off with the cable man dropping by.  As I mentioned in my post on Friday, I came home from work on Thursday to no audio on my TV.  I messed with it for quite some time, but to no avail.  The guy comes on Friday, turns on the TV and it is like nothing is wrong!  The sound works!  Luckily he messed with it, was able to recreate the problem, and fix it.  The only downfall is I lost all my recordings from the week.  That was a bit of a bummer.  I headed back to work and enjoyed lunch with some old co-workers.  I have been at the same place for over 5 years, but moved departments from when I first started out.  It was nice to catch up!  Friday afternoon brought a happy hour...definitely a nice way to start the weekend.  I ended the day with logging in some phone time with my Dad and my brother.

Saturday brought more cable guide wasn't working.  I know, I know...first world problems.  But it was just frustrating after having the audio issues the day before.  I spent some more time on the phone with the cable company, before heading across the river to Illinois to hang out with one of my friends.  She is expecting her second so I kept her company while she got things ready for him.  Washing bottles, cleaning up the nursery, going through some odds and ends was the perfect way to spend the day for me.  My contribution was putting together the mobile and attaching it to the crib - pretty proud of that!  It was so fun to see her little girl and mother-in-law, too.

Sunday was the day of chores.  Cleaning.  Laundry.  Grocery shopping.  Working out.  I also went through the rest of my clothes!  I was able to fill two bags with things to go to a consignment shop back home.  Any items that the shop doesn't use get donated, so I feel like it is a win-win.  That was a huge accomplishment, so even though there were a few more things I had wanted to do yesterday that didn't get done, it was still an overall pretty productive day in my book.

Although it wasn't a super exciting weekend, it was nice and relaxing which was definitely what I was looking for.  I was able to get a lot accomplished and catch up on some sleep!

Now...on to the work week!

Friday Favorites 7.24.15

Happy Friday!  I am linking up with Momfessionals, A Little Bit of Everything Blog, and Grace and Love Blog for my Friday Favorites!

I am also linking up with A. Liz Adventures for Five on Friday.

1.  Broccoli Sausage Rigatoni.  You can find the recipe here.  I love this meal.  I haven't made it in awhile and thought it would be perfect to make this week.  Oh goodness, did it hit the spot!  It was one of those times that since it had been awhile, I had forgotten how good it was, but when I made it I instantly remembered why it was one of my faves.
2.  Antique finds.  My mom and I stopped by this antique mall when she was here on Sunday.  It was full of different vendor booths.  We had such a nice time looking at all the merchandise and found a few things to take home with us, too.  We were both pleasantly surprised with this place...most of the prices seemed reasonable and they had a good amount of things that were our taste.  It ended up being so much bigger than it looked from the outside, which is always nice.  I plan to check back there on a regular basis to see what new things are in inventory!
3.  My balcony.  My balcony is DONE!  I posted here about how I was anxiously awaiting the completion.  When I got home last night I had the "official" letter from the office stating that the balcony was done.  I knew it was done on Thursday, because they had removed the piece of wood from across my sliding glass door, but the letter made it final.
4.  My Nordstrom Anniversary sale purchases.  I received what I had bought from the sale earlier this week and I was not disappointed.  I even got my blardigan, which wasn't supposed to arrive until August!  Holy cow, is that thing soft.  I knew everyone had raved about it, said how great if felt, but I didn't realize it would be THAT soft.  I am going to retry everything on again to make sure nothing needs to go back, but overall I am pretty pleased!
5.  Working from home.  Last night I got home, turned on the TV...and silence.  For some crazy reason my audio is not working.  After being on the phone with the cable company twice, twice with my Dad (Thanks, Dad!) in between my two cable calls, I ended up having to schedule an appointment with the technician.  Luckily, there was a time slot open for 8-10 this morning.  With my job, I have the ability to work from home.  I am super thankful for that, because it really comes in handy during these times.  I can still get my cable fixed (hopefully!) but I don't have to use my time off to do so.
Hope you all have a great weekend.  I plan on taking it easy and catching up on some sleep!  Have a good one!

Pinterest.  What in the world did we do before Pinterest?  It is one of my favorite apps/websites.  I could spend hours looking at different pins.  Today, I thought I would share with you some of my favorite pins.

I love this bedroom.  I feel like it has a lot of layers and texture that just really adds interest to the room.  The wall color is beautiful and the coral accents are such a nice compliment.  It seems super fresh and relaxing...definitely something I look for in a bedroom.  I think the accessories could be changed for the seasons, which makes it a big win in my book.  I have been wanting to update my bedroom, and I think this might be a good place to start for my inspiration!

I got this blanket scarf last year and absolute LOVE it.  The colors are perfect and can go with pretty much everything.  I knew it was a blanket scarf when I bought it, but I didn't quite realize how much material there was until I saw it in person.  This tutorial definitely helped me figure out the best way to wear it for me.  Thank goodness for Pinterest...otherwise my pretty scarf may have stayed in my closet for some time.

I love looking at Pinterest for picture ideas.  This one is so cute would it be framed in a baby's room?  I definitely think this is something I am going to try and do for my niece/nephew.  Only a few more weeks...I am SO excited!!

I think one of the main things I use Pinterest for is the recipes.  I could search recipes all day, every day.  I would be totally happy if I could spend my days cooking and baking.  I have found some really good recipes via Pinterest...the one pictured above is definitely a favorite.  Chicken, asparagus, pasta, and parm cheese...super easy and super delicious.  There are so many more I have pinned and want to try.  Sounds like I have the makings of a new goal idea for the next few months!

I pride myself in giving good gifts.  I just love the whole process...coming up with ideas, shopping, wrapping, giving the gift...all that!  Except...the ideas don't always come easy.  Sometimes I know exactly what to do, others times I need a little extra help.  Insert Pinterest.  There are so many great gift ideas to be found on Pinterest and the one above is no exception.  I did this for some coworkers one Christmas and it was a BIG hit.  I picked up a seasonal beer with really festive packaging for an extra touch.  It was a fun gift that they all really enjoyed.  I definitely plan on using this idea again.
You can check out my other pins by following me on Pinterest via my button on the side, or by clicking on this link.

Waiting On...

Happy Wednesday!  I was searching for some more links up to do and came across this one with Holly @ While I'm Waiting.

I thought this was perfect because I am anxiously awaiting the completion of my balcony!
When I moved in, my balcony always seemed a little bit rickety.  I asked the office if they could come take a look at it to make sure it was safe.  I really wanted to use it as an outdoor space, since my apartment is on the smaller side.  I back up to a wooded area so it would be super nice to sit out and enjoy a beautiful day.  The office never came back with anything being wrong, so I went ahead and purchased two chairs and a small table.  I got everything out there and sat down for about 5 minutes before deciding to go back in because the floor moving just did not seem secure to me.
Fast forward about a year later, and I come home to a note on my door from the office.  They were FINALLY going to redo our balconies!  I was SO excited.  The note mentioned it would be a couple days, but it has ended up being more like a month and a half to two months.  I am sure this crazy wet summer has something to do with that.
I do feel like the end is in sight, though.  I noticed the other day that they were putting in the concrete footers, which I believe is the very last step.  Fingers crossed!  I cannot wait to get my furniture back outside, as well as my poor pot of flowers - they need some good sunlight!  It is going to be so nice to finally have a useable outdoor space.  Until then I will just sit tight and wait...and enjoy pictures of these lovely spaces below.

Joan's Banana Bread

If you read yesterday, then you know all about my bad back.  If not, here's the short version.  I hurt my back Saturday morning...I was in so much pain later that evening that I called in for reinforcements, aka my mom.  She came to the rescue, but luckily I was feeling much better on Sunday.  Instead of her spending the whole day taking care of me, we were able to make it into a more fun trip.  One of the things we did during her visit was bake some delicious banana muffins.

I have been on the hunt for a good banana bread recipe for a long time!  I have tried multiple recipes, but they were all pretty much disasters.  Luckily, my mom passed along this recipe and it turned out so good!  She was given this recipe by her friend, Joan, hence the name - Joan's Banana Bread.

As I mentioned above, we made these in muffin version, but below I have provided the baking times for both the muffins and the bread.

Joan's Banana Bread
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening (I used Crisco sticks)
3 ripe bananas, mashed
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups cake flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Combine dry ingredients in a bowl and set aside.  Combine sugar and shortening together with an electric mixer.  Add mashed bananas and eggs.  Turn mixer on slow and slowly add dry ingredients.  Bake in greased loaf pan for 45-50 minutes.

For muffins, bake 15-25 minutes.  My mom baked them for 25 minutes in her oven, but when we made them in my oven, they only needed about 15 minutes.

As you can see by the picture, I prefer my muffins slathered in butter.  They make the perfect breakfast or light snack.

I am trying a new link up today...Delicious Dish Tuesday, hosted by Alesha @ Full Time Mama and Mary @ Eat, Drink and Be Mary.

What A Weekend!

I had quite the weekend, let me tell you!  Friday was pretty low key...I didn't do much at all.  Saturday morning was when all the fun started.

I had plans with one of my friends to go out to lunch and then spend the rest of the day hanging by the pool in my apartment complex.  Since she was coming over, I wanted to get my apartment cleaned.  I waited til Saturday morning to clean...big mistake.  As I was getting up to start cleaning, I pulled something in my back and was in some intense pain.  I couldn't figure out what I did, but now thinking back, I believe it happened when I was lifting my big flower pot.  I thought it would go away, that I just did something wrong and in a few minutes I would be fine.  That did not happen. I sucked it up and cleaned because there was no way I was going to have her come over to my mess of an apartment.  But it was slow going and just awful.  I had to brace myself on the furniture to pull myself up if I had to bend down.  Luckily, I got the apartment in decent shape and was ready to go.  I was really looking forward to our girls day so there was no way I wasn't going to buck up and go out.

Lunch was fabulous.  The company was great and so was the food.  We went to Walnut Grill, which was SO good.  We both got fun cocktails and split four appetizers for our meal.  It was super fun getting a bunch of small plates and sharing...that way we got a little bit of everything.  We tried the roasted vegetable flatbread, mussels, loaded tater tots and lobster mac n cheese.  Everything was delicious, but I would have to say the mussels were my favorite.  We both enjoyed dipping our bread in the broth...definitely the best thing.  As you can see below, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and although we made a good dent in the food, we had a bunch left over.

After lunch we decided to let our food digest a little bit before heading out to the pool.  I will admit...we never made it out to the pool.  Instead we watched Lifetime/Hallmark movies for the rest of the afternoon while I tried to get semi -omfortable with my back.  It was miserable.  I have never had pain like that before.  I felt like I couldn't do one point I had to have help to stand.  Such a great friend!

I had a minor breakdown later that day.  I just kept thinking how I needed to do my laundry and go grocery shopping and had no idea how I was going to be able to with the way I was feeling.  I made a desperate call to my mom, asking her if she would be willing to come down the next day.  After that, I then called my brother and thank goodness for my sister-in-law.  She really helped me out.  She has unfortunately been having back pain with her pregnancy...lucky for me she had learned some stretches to help deal with the pain and told me how to do them.  I think they really helped immensely.  I also ran to the store to get some Icy Hot which was a suggestion from my group text girls.  Thank goodness for my friends and family!

After a pretty miserable evening, I woke up feeling SO MUCH better!  My back still isn't 100% percent but I am 20 times better than I was.  My mom still came down and we were able to spend a really nice day together.  We did some shopping, checked out an antique mall, ate, baked, ate some more, took a walk, did some laundry and some cleaning.

It turned into quite an eventful weekend.  I never understood exactly what it felt like when people said their backs were hurt, but holy cow, do I now!  Definitely am thankful for those that listened to me complain, helped me out with being here or with their suggestions of how to help.  So very nice!  Now...note to self...lift with your legs, not with your back.

Hope you guys had a great weekend!

Friday Favorites 7.17.15

Happy Friday!  If you have visited my blog before, you know the drill...I am linking up with Momfessionals, A Little Bit of Everything Blog, and Grace and Love Blog for my Friday Favorites!

I am also linking up with A. Liz Adventures for Five on Friday.

The ESPY Awards.  This year was the first time I have ever watched the ESPYs.  I have to say...this may be my favorite awards show.  There were so many amazing stories told at this show.  I liked how the show was focused more on personal interest stories than the actual awards - at least that was my take away.  The speeches all came from the heart and I loved that they were not rushed.  There was no music to kick them off the stage mid-speech.  The Lauren Hill story brought tears to my eyes.  It is amazing to see such a young woman stay so positive, despite her illness and diagnoses.  I just truly enjoyed all aspects of this awards show which was definitely not what I was expecting.
Girls weekend!  I am planning on getting some quality girl time in this weekend with one of my favorites.  I can't wait!  Any time I am with this girl, it is always such a good time.  It is hard to believe we met just a mere 2 years ago, by chance, at a mutual friend's bachelorette party.  We didn't know anyone else except the bride so we buddied up that night and have been such good friends ever since.  I am so lucky to have such a true friend in my life.
Freshly painted nails.  I did my nails last night and it was MUCH needed.  I chose to go with my very favorite color for my finger nails...Essie Master Plan.  It is the perfect shade of gray.  I love it for all seasons and all occasions.  I love the name, too.  Makes me feel like I am on the right path in my 'master plan.'
Kindle Unlimited.  For $9.99 a month, I have access to a bunch of "free" books.  They are free with my subscription.  It's perfect for me because I am a super fast reader...if I read just 3 books a month, then I get my money's worth.  It's perfect for the days when I am lazy and read a ton...I can just download a bunch and not have to worry about how much each one costs.
Morning workouts.  I have been working out in the mornings work schedule is a little unpredictable right now.  Some days I can be leaving on time, others I may be staying later.  In order to ensure I get a work out in, I go in the morning.  I don't feel I am getting as good of a work out as when I go after work, but it is something!  I love knowing that it is out of the way and I am free to spend my time however I want after work.
Hope you all have a great weekend!  Stay cool...we have a heat advisory for this weekend, so definitely will be toting around a bottle of water wherever I go!

10 Loves/Hates

Last Friday, Christina from The New Mrs, tagged me in her Friday Favorites post (thank you!!!).  She was tagged by others to list 10 things she loves, 10 things she hates, and then 10 bloggers to do the same.  I was so excited to see my name on this!  At first, 10 items didn't seem too hard, but as I was making my list I was having trouble coming up with the last few!

Side note: Obviously my family and friends are at the top of my "love" list, so I figured they would be a given and decided to exclude them from my actual list.  Also, these items listed are in no particular order.

1. Wine.  I love wine.  As far as reds go, Pinot Noir is my absolute favorite.  I shared here the kind I recently tried.  It is SO smooth and delicious.  I also love a good Riesling when the weather is warmer and I am craving something crisp and cool.

2.  Reading.  I have always been a bookworm.  My tastes usually run to fiction/romance novels, but I love a good biography or historical read.

3.  A clean house.  When things are cluttered and messy, it stresses me out a little.  I feel like I can't totally relax because I am just thinking about what I need to do to clean up.  One of the best feelings is when my apartment is nice and clean.  I can just relax and enjoy, because there is nothing distracting me!

4.  Online shopping.  I used to love going to the mall.  LOVE it.  Now, I prefer online shopping.  I think that may be in part because I don't have my favorite shopping partner, my mom, close by to go to the mall.  But also, I think it is due to the fact that online shopping is just so easy and convenient!

5.  Movie theaters.  I love going to the movies.  It is one of my favorite things to do.  The popcorn is unbeatable...I love movie theater popcorn.  Pair popcorn (with butter and lots of salt), a pop and a great movie together and you will have one happy girl.

6.  Food.  I was going to name my favorite foods, but I couldn't narrow it down...I would have ten right there!  I just love food!  I think part of the things I love about food is sharing it with others.  There are few things better than sharing a great meal with your favorite people.  And food can just taste so dang good!

7.  Lists.  I really, really enjoy making lists.  I like to keep organized and I can be rather forgetful sometimes, so making lists helps to keep me on track.  Also, I love the feeling of accomplishment when I can cross something off a list.

8.  Big purses.  I need a large bag...I carry way too much stuff to have a small purse.  I like being able to stick a sweater in my bag in case I get cold, water if I am thirsty, just anything I think I may need.  I like being prepared.  Not to mention, I just like the way they look!

9.  Series.  I love series...whether it be a book series or TV series.  I like movie sequels, follow ups...basically I just like things to continue.

10.  Fall.  I think fall is my favorite season.  I love the clothes, the smells (candles, leaves burning...), the food, the holidays, the trees...everything!

1.  Bad drivers.  I hate bad drivers, really, who doesn't?!

2.  Driving in rain or snow...basically any type of precipitation.  I get so anxious knowing I have to drive some place if it is raining or snowing.  It is one of my least favorite things to do.

3.  Being late.  I hate being late.  I always tend to be on the early side and when I am unable to, it really bothers me!

4.  Discontinued products.  I hate when some of my favorite things are discontinued.  I had worn the same eyeliner since I started wearing make up...but they discontinued it a year or two ago.  I was SO disappointed!  Luckily I think I have found some good replacements, but it still just isn't the same.  It happened with one of my favorite hair products, too!  I couldn't find the spray in stores anymore, so I finally looked online and realized that it was no longer available.  I am still trying to find a spray that I like as much as the old one.

5.  Waking up before my alarm.  I hate when this happens...I am not talking about hours before my alarm, but when I wake up about 5-10 minutes before my alarm goes is so frustrating.  I know I can't go back to sleep...even if I did, it would only be for 5 minutes before my alarm goes off.  Yet, I don't want to get up and start my day, because it isn't time to get up.

6.  Mean people.  Throughout the years I have realized some people are just plain mean.  I don't understand why.

7.  Doing dishes.  I know this is something that must be done, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.  When I was younger, I REALLY hated doing dishes.  I have gotten better, but it still isn't my favorite thing.  I just hate the way the food feels when it gets mushy and wet from the soap and water.  Thank goodness for dishwashers!

8.  Sleeping late.  I rarely sleep late...I think my body is just programmed to wake up early.  However, I am glad, because I am definitely a morning person.  If I sleep in too much, I feel like I am wasting the day.  I would rather be more productive in the morning so I can take it easy in the afternoon than sleep in late.

9.  People on their phone at the gym.  Now, I am guilty of having my phone with me at the gym and occasionally texting while working out.  But what bothers me are those people that just sit on a machine and text the whole time.  Finish using that machine, then text back.  Don't use it as a chair or resting area while you scroll through instagram or Facebook.

10.  Hearing people's music when they have headphones on.  This has happened at work and at the gym.  Someone will be listening to music, but it is so loud that you can hear it even though they are using headphones.  I am too scared to say anything, so it is partly my fault, but it can be really annoying.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Wishlist...Part Two

I mentioned in my post on Monday that I would be sharing with you the rest of my Nordstrom anniversary sale wish list items later this week.  Today is that day!  There are so many cute things, it was hard to narrow it down!

Relaxed Slub Knit U-Neck Tee

I have mentioned this shirt in previous posts, and it is one of my very favorite t shirts.  The fabric is super soft.  I love the is relaxed and loose, but not to the point where you lose your shape.  I am loving the green botanical and dark purple colors for the fall.  Definitely a must have for me.

Pleated Hem Sweater

I have seen this sweater a few different places and every time I see it, I like it more and more.  I am partial to the grey and white combination.  I just think it's very classic and would be perfect with skinny jeans and cute booties or heels.

Plaid Double Face Cotton Shirt

I love a good plaid shirt and this one is no exception.  The crimsom/navy combination is my favorite.

Plaid Cotton Flannel Boyfriend Shirt

I can't decide if I like the cotton (above) or the flannel better.  I think I may need both!  There is something just so warm and cozy about a good flannel shirt.  I am between the orange and red plaid for my favorite...both are just so cute!

Melange Woven Sheath Dress

I love this dress for work.  It is classic and timeless.  I love the grey color.  I am usually always freezing in the office, so I like that this has some length on the sleeves.

Body-Con Minidress

This dress is multifunctional.  I feel I could wear it to work, out for a nicer dinner or I could dress it down with a scarf and boots for a more casual look.  The olive green color looks so rich.  The dress is simple, but something I think I could wear for years to come.

I had better get to cleaning my closet.  In my July goals, I mentioned that I wanted to clean out my closet before I bought anything else.  I already failed that goal because I ordered this cardigan, but I am trying to stick back with it before I buy anything else.  Wish me luck!

I am linking up with Choose Happy to share with you what I am currently up to...

Working.  Now is my busy time at work, so that means I may potentially have long days at the office.  I have a love/hate relationship with quarter end.  I love being busy and how quickly the days go by, on the other hand, some days it seems like I eat, sleep, work and repeat.  I am just thankful I am only 5 minutes away from work, instead of the hour I used to be.  It definitely makes it better to only have a short drive home after a long day, as opposed to a long commute.

Missing Michigan.  Every year we take a family vacation to Lake Michigan.  This includes my immediate family, grandma, aunt, uncle and cousins.  We have been going for as long as I can remember.  It is literally my very favorite place ever.  I haven't been able to go the past 3-4 years because the timing of the trip conflicts with my busy time at work.  I am definitely missing everyone, as well as just being there.  Spending the days at the beach, visiting our favorite restaurants/shops, playing cards, watching sunsets on the beach...everything about this vacation is relaxing and just so enjoyable.  I am hopeful that the timing will change for next year and I will be able to join my family on vacation!  Until then, I will just imagine myself on the beach with a good book.

Reading.  I read SO much over the weekend.  I went through The Barbourville Series by Carolynn Carey in no time.  I love easy reads and this series definitely fits that description.  All the stories take place in this quaint little town, called Barbourville.  Reading these books made me wish this place existed so I could move there.  Like I said, it is an easy, light-hearted read which to me is perfect for the summer.

Eating.  Lately I have been into eating mashed avocado on toasted bagel thins.  Topped with a little Kosher salt and pepper, it makes the perfect breakfast or light dinner.  I've paired it with cottage cheese, or just some cut up strawberries and blueberries.  SO good.

Wanting to decorate.  I moved into my apartment about a year and a half ago.  I have always loved decorating and am super happy with how my little living room and dining room turned out.  However, my bedroom has always felt a little unfinished and I keep wanting to do something to make it feel "done."  I am not sure what exactly I want to do to accomplish this "finished" feeling, but it is definitely something that has been on my mind.

That's what I have been up to currently...what about you?!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Wishlist...Part One

Happy Monday!  As I am sure most of you know, Nordstrom is having their anniversary sale.  For the cardholders, the sale has began.  For non-cardholders, the sale will be open to everyone in a few days, but you can browse all you want!

Today I thought I would share with you some of the things I am loving from the sale.

Drape Front Cardigan

I have read about this cardigan on multiple other blogs.  Everyone had rave reviews about it, so when I saw the cardigan was included in the sale, I knew I had to buy it.  Unfortunately when I went to buy it, the gray color was unavailable.  I was so disappointed!  However, I checked back the next day and they had it available, just backordered.  Since I won't be able to wear this for awhile, the August ship date worked perfectly for me.  It looks like the gray is again unavailable in the small/medium, so I must have lucked out!

'Empa' Pointy Toe Loafer Flat

I am lusting after these flats.  They would be perfect to wear to work, but would also be great outside of the office.  I love all the colors offered.  They look like a shoe that I could wear a long time - very classic.

'Onyx' Half d'Orsay Pointy Toe Pump

I have been wanting a pair of leopard heels for a longgggg time.  These look super cute.  I think they are neutral enough I could wear them to work, but would also be super fun for a night out.

'Trott' Bootie

These booties look like the perfect footwear for fall.  They would be adorable with dresses, as well as jeans and a scarf.  The chunky heel makes them seem like they would be very comfortable, too.  The burgundy would be a little impractical for me, but I love all the other colors!

'Jemma' Quilted Sneaker

I have a small obsession with UGGs.  I have 3 pairs of boots and a pair of the moccasins.  I feel like these would be the perfect addition to my collection.  I love the gray color.  They look super comfy - the perfect shoe to run errands in or wear out for a casual evening.

'Original Boyfriend' Watch

I really like this watch.  Blue is one of my favorite colors to wear, so I love the strap color.  It is a more casual watch, which would be great for dressing down.  The face is perfect for me, too.  I am kind of particular when it comes to watches...I could never wear one that has no marks for the time.  I love that this one has all the markings...makes it so much easier to tell time that way!

'Arden' Station Cuff

I have this cuff in a sparkly silver and absolutely love it.  It goes with everything and is super comfortable to wear.  I love how it is offered in so many different colors here!

Fringe Trim Infinity Scarf

This is the perfect scarf for fall.  The price point in unbeatable.  I love the camel and olive colors.  I think the fringe is super fun and would add a little something to jeans and a t shirt.  Imagine this scarf paired with the booties I mentioned above...perfect fall outfit!

As I was putting together this post, I realized it was mainly shoes and accessories.  To avoid a super long post, I am breaking up my wish list and will share with you my clothing picks later this week.  Happy shopping!
