What's Up Wednesday 4.29.15

Today, I decided to try my first link-up!  I will be linking up with these ladies...Mix and Match Family, Pinterest Told Me To and The Larson Lingo.  Here it goes...

What I am eating...eggs!  You can't go wrong with breakfast for dinner.
What I am reminiscing about...the year so far...I can't believe it is almost May!
What I am loving...this swimsuit cover up!  I am heading to Scottsdale for a girls' trip in May and this is going to be perfect for by the pool.
What I have been up to...working out!  With the warmer weather, I have been trying to stay diligent with my working out.  Since I love to eat, I definitely need to make sure I work out consistantly.  I recently started taking a new class and I LOVE it!
What I am dreading...cleaning out my dresser.  I had wanted to go through my drawers a few weeks ago (oops!), but still haven't gotten to it yet.  I always feel so much better after cleaning out drawers, but I have a hard time getting started!
What I am working on...blogging!  I am still so new at this, so I definitely would say it is a work in progress.
What I am excited about...Scottsdale!  A trip is much needed right now and I am counting down the days.
What I am watching...Swamp People!  This is a guilty pleasure of mine, but I absolutely love this show.  Makes me want to go down to Louisiana and hunt some gators!
What I am listing to...a little bit of everything...country, pop, rap...you name it.  Right now, a few of my favorites are: "GDRF" by Flo Rida and "Shut Up and Dance" by Walk the Moon.
What I am wearing...Exact Stretch Pants.  I have to dress up for work and I love these pants from The Limited..  They are so comfortable and fit really well.

What I am doing this weekend...margs out with one of my favorite girls!
What I am looking forward to next month...Scottsdale!!!!  (sorry to be repetitive - I just can't wait!)
There you have it...that's "what's up" with me for this Wednesday!

Brussel Sprouts

I am going to be honest...I never, ever thought I would say I love any cooked vegetable.

When I was younger, I wouldn't be allowed to leave the kitchen table until I finished my vegetables, or at least ate enough to satisfy my parents.  They would start cleaning up the kitchen after dinner, and I would still be sitting there.  Needless to say, I was a stubborn little girl who did NOT like vegetables.

However, the recipe I am going to share with you today is a game changer.

I had brussel sprouts for the first time a few years ago at a friend's house.  They were SO good, and I have been hooked ever since!  The recipe below is my favorite way to prepare brussel sprouts.  This recipe makes enough for 2 people.  Hope you enjoy!

Sautéed Brussel Sprouts
9 Brussel Sprouts
1-2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
15 grinds of fresh Black Pepper
1 teaspoon Garlic Powder

Cut the bottoms off the brussel sprouts, then cut in half.  Heat 1-2 T of olive oil in a saute pan, on medium heat.  Add the brussel sprouts to the pan, then add your salt, pepper and garlic powder.  Make sure the cut sides of the brussel sprouts are face down on the pan.  This gives it a nice "crust" of flavor as you cook it.  Cook for about 15 minutes, or until the brussel sprouts have a slightly soft texture, and a brown coloring on the cut side.  As you cook, you can use a spoon to push off the top layers to get a few leaves to crisp to go along with the brussel sprout halves.

This is a super easy and yummy side dish for any dinner!

April Reading

I love to read.  Absolutely LOVE it.  There are few things I enjoy more than curling up and getting lost in a good book.  Normally, my go-to is a romance novel.  I'm a hopeless romantic and a sucker for a happy ending.

To switch it up, I thought I would try reading a few of the books I have seen recommended on other blogs.  Then I can share with you my opinion of them!  Here is the line up for April:

Bossypants by Tina Fey

The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks

Three Wishes by  Liane Moriarty

I will admit - only two are blog recommendations.  My own addition to the list was Nicholas Sparks.  Can't ever resist reading one of his books, especially after I heard how good the movie was!

Check back in a few weeks for my opinion on all three.

Happy reading!

My Favorite Face Mask

In the past year or so, I have been getting more and more into beauty products.  It is so fun to try new things and see what works, and what doesn't.  Unfortunately, I have always had a little contention with my face.  When I was younger, I had some crazy acne.  Luckily, after lots of time spent at the dermatologist and on medication, my face cleared up.  Thank goodness!  However, I always felt there was room for improvement when it came to my skin, especially my pores.  Due to my acne growing up, I was always nervous to try new things, not wanting something to mess with my sensitive skin.  This past year, though, I have gotten brave.

I always wanted to try one of the GlamGlow masks I have heard so much about.  However, price tag made me a little hesitant.  I did not want to spend that much on something if I wasn't going to see the results I wanted.

Enter Kiehl's Since 1851 'Rare Earth' Deep Pore Cleansing Masque.

I was looking online one day at other Kiehl's products when I came across this one.  It sounded something I would be interested in, but I wanted to know more so I checked out the reviews.  ALL great reviews!  Between that and the price tag, I was sold.  I picked it up next time I was at the store and have been loving it ever since!

The first time I used it, I was told my face "glowed" and my skin looked great.  I try to use it at least once a week, if not two.  I let it sit for 15 minutes (the instructions say about 10 minutes). After the 15 minutes pass, I gently wipe it off with a damp wash cloth and am good to go!  My face feels so smooth and looks so healthy and clean after I use this.  I am still working on my first container, which has lasted me somewhere between 5-6 months.  Needless to say, you get your money's worth.

So there you go, my favorite face mask.

The Start of Something New

Today is my first official blog post.  I have been wanting to start a blog for the past few years now and I finally got up the courage to do so!

I am so excited to get started!  I love to cook and I love to shop, so you will be able to find recipes, along with any of my favorite purchases on here.  And, as the name indicates, a little bit about me!
