Friday Favorites: #NSale, Salad, The Bachelorette, Family & A Fresh Haircut

Hey all!  Happy Friday!  This week was kind of a struggle for me - I have been so tired!  I slept terribly on Sunday, and that kind of set the tone for the whole week.  I feel like there is this fine line between going to bed too early for me.  Sometimes when I go to bed really early, I wake up at like 3:00, and am wide awake until right before my alarm when I finally fall back to sleep only to have to get up right away.  And then of course, going to bed too late isn't a good thing either.  So basically I have been tired, and it's been getting worse as the week goes on.  But, Friday is here, so let's get to my favorites.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  If you stopped by my blog Friday, or Monday, I shared the items I was purchasing.  I have gotten a few things in already, and shared my thoughts on those in yesterday's post.  I am just going to continue to update that one post as things come in, that way it is all together.  I got some things in last night, so it's already been updated!

Build Your Own Salad.  Monday night was girls night, and for dinner, we did build your own salad.  Each person brought something to add - lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, meats, salad dressing, etc. and I thought that was just such a great idea.  It was super simple, yummy, and pretty darn healthy.  All the toppings were put in a tray, and then you could just add whatever you wanted.  Of course we ended the night with ice cream and hot fudge (not to mention the glass of wine with dinner), but it's all about balance, right?!  I just thought the salad idea was great - simple, easy and straight forward for those bringing things.  Something I plan on remembering for future get togethers!

The Bachelorette.  I have never really been into the Bachelor / Bachelorette, but I recently joined some friends in watching each week, and, well, last week sucked me in.  It's like a train wreck.  I feel so darn awkward watching that show.  I am sure they show them going into the fantasy suites for a reason but I would rather not see that, haha.  The end, too, was just like get the hint buddy, she wants you gone.

Family Time.  I have a work trip scheduled in August in Chicago.  Which, if you have been following for awhile, you know that Chicago is my favorite city, and that I have family in the area.  I'll be heading up that way on Sunday, but the work portion of the trip isn't until Monday.  So, I am going to get to spend that Sunday with my family.  Really excited for the impromptu family day!

Fresh Haircut.  I got my hair cut this week.  It was definitely needed.  And boy, what a difference it makes.  Even though we are having the hottest / most humid weather this week, my hair has actually been staying nice.  Amazing what a little bit off the ends can do!

No big plans for this weekend - possibly meeting some friends at the park for a walk, but with the heat advisory we may have to rethink that.  A nice, relaxing weekend sounds perfect, though!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. I had a hair appointment this week too; it was much needed. I'm trying to get better about making my next appointment while I'm there otherwise I've been known to go months without a trim.

  2. I always feel so awkward watching the Bachelorette (especially this season, haha), but I can't stop. There's nothing like a fresh hair cut! I'm treating myself to a blowout tonight and I'm so excited! Have a great weekend :)

  3. A build your own salad night is a great idea! I can't believe I've never thought of that before. Such a smart idea! And girl, yes, Bachelorette. Ugh, I cringe nonstop watching it because it's just so awkward. But I can't stop watching! Haha. Happy weekend!

  6. Oh yes, The Bachelorette can suck you in. haha. I last had my hair trimmed in April. My ends feel really dry. I've been trying to wait longer in between trims. I really want my hair to go, but it just won't.
