Today is my birthday!  As I was trying to come up with a birthday post idea this year, a favorite things post came to mind.  I have already posted fun tidbits about myself, and even had my mom write my birth story, so I wanted to switch it up.  And of course, as soon as I thought of that topic, I instantly thought of this song.  I just love The Sound of Music!

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright cooper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tired up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things...

Back to the matter at hand...in honor of my 32nd birthday, I present you a few of my favorite things!

Cookbooks.  I love cooking, love baking, but most of all, I love flipping through cookbooks.  Some of my favorite include Magnolia Table, Skinnytaste (her first and second), and In the Kitchen with Kris.

Books.  Along with cookbooks, I just love books in general.  My dream home would have a massive library.  I will pretty much read anything, but my all time favorite book is Happily Ever After, the last book in the Bridal Quartet series by Nora Roberts.

Food.  I just love food.  SO MUCH, haha!  Like I said, I love to cook and bake, but I also love to try new foods, and new restaurants.  And just go out to eat in general.  There is something about a meal out that just is so lovely.  I love all kinds of foods, and sweets, too.  Oh, and movie theater popcorn (I feel like that is it's own category).  Cannot forget that!

Movies & TV Shows.  Speaking of movie theater popcorn, I love movies.  And TV shows.  My DVR is almost always near full because I like watching so many different shows!

Face Masks.  I love a good face mask.  My favorite for the last 4-5 years has been Kiehl's Deep Pore Mask.  I also have really liked the Philosophy Purity Mask.  I try to do at least one a week, if not two.  There is just something so satisfying about face masks!

Nail Polish.  Since I can remember I have loved nail polish and having my nails painted.  There is something about having my nails done that just makes me feel so much better.  Almost like a confidence boost.  I remember seeing this eCard a long time ago, but it said something like when my nails are on point, my life is on point.  And I feel that for sure!  My current favorite color right now is Matter of Fiction.

Shoes.  Two brands that I am so loyal to are UGG and Calvin Klein.  I got my first pair of UGGs in college, and have loved them ever since.  I have added on to my UGG collection over the years, and whether it be their traditional boots, or heeled boots, or slip ons, or slippers (wearing the slippers as I type this)...they are almost always the first shoes I reach for.  And for work I have a pair of black, navy, and nude Calvin Klein pumps that I rotate.  They are so comfy!  Oh, and I would be remiss if I did not mention my Hunter rain boots.  I always say this, but I thought they were such a frivolous purchase at the time, but they have been worn over and over again, and 5 years later, still look as good as the day I got them!

Mascara.  Even if I am not wearing a full face of makeup, you can pretty much always count on me wearing mascara.  I actually use three products, which I know is kind of a lot, but I love the end result.  First, L'Oreal Primer.  Then, my holy grail, Lancome Grandiose Extreme Mascara.  Followed by a quick swipe of Clinque High Impact Mascara.  I use that, because sometimes I would notice the Lancome leaving spots on my eyelids, and for whatever reason this seemed to fix that.

Antique Shops / Flea Markets.  I love a good antique shop / mall.  I seriously could browse those places for days.  I am lucky enough to have one close to me - it's one of my favorite ways to spend the weekend, just wandering around, even if there is nothing in particular I am looking for.  Same with flea markets.  Growing up my grandparents would sell, and we would sometimes go with them.  The past few years I have been able to make it with my parents, grandma and aunt to that same flea market, and I know I will cherish those day for years to come.

Michigan.  My family has gone to Michigan for years and years and years.  It is by far my very favorite place.  You have the beach, the trees, the homes, the long walks, the ice cream, the burgers, the slower pace of vacation - there just is not anything better!

Card games.  I pretty much love all card games (minus poker, because I don't know how to play).  There is something about gathering around the table, enjoying each others company, while playing cards.  Or even if it's just two of you playing War (one of my favorites), or playing solitaire by yourself.  I think playing cards one of life's simple pleasures.

Coffee.  I was a little backwards with coffee.  I really liked it when I was younger, stealing sips from my family, but my feelings towards it did a 180 and I kind of hated it for awhile.  Like even the smell was bleh to me.  But then a few years ago I finally gave into trying a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks, and I was hooked.  I have expanded my horizons and tried a few new drinks, and the ones I keep going back to are the Cinnamon Almond Milk Macchiato, and a Caramel Macchiato.  I try to limit myself to them only on the weekends, and they continue to be such a treat.

Designer Bags.  I have a thing for purses.  Designer purses at that.  It started in high school with Dooney & Burke, and has continued to grow the older I get.  I remember for my 21st birthday, my family gifted me this big old Coach purse I had been in love with for so long.  And more recently, for my 30th birthday I took my birthday money, some of my own money, and bought a Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM.  There are still a few bags I would love to add to the mix, but they just seem to get more and more expensive, so maybe for my 40th!

My Family.  Saving the best for last!  My family isn't a 'thing' but they are my most favorite.  They are the absolutely best and I truly don't know what I would do without them!

Well, I shared way more than just a few of my favorite things, but what can you do?  There are just so many!

So here's to 32...cheers!
