Weekend Recap: Rooster Crawl 2017

Hey all - happy Monday!  This weekend was a really good one, with a productive Saturday morning, followed by our 2nd annual Rooster Crawl!

I was pretty lazy Friday night, so I made up for it on Saturday morning.  Ran errands, went to the gym and cleaned all before it was time for the Rooster Crawl.  Which, I am happy to say turned out so well.  I took barely any pictures, but it was the perfect day for a bar crawl.  All the bars had outside seating and we took full advantage of that for the most part.  It was a very warm day, but cool enough in the shade to sit outside.  We don't have the final numbers as of yet, but we had a great turnout and everyone seemed to participate in the raffle.  The date was a busy one, with all different events going on in the area (most of which we did not hear about until after our date was already set!), everyone that did come seemed like they had a great time!  If you are newer around here, the Rooster Crawl is an event that Provident's Young Professionals Board puts on.  Provident's mission is helping individuals and families, to a brighter future through counseling, suicide prevention and intervention, and community support programs.  We call it the Rooster Crawl to coincide with the Rooster Run, which is named so because roosters provide a wake up call and with 1 in 5 people suffering from mental illness and someone dying from suicide every 13 minutes, we feel a wake up call is definitely needed!  I have been on the YP board for a little over 2 and a half years now, and it's something I really feel passionate about.  Not only is it a great organization, but I have met some really great people through it as well.  The crawl ended right around dinner time, so we stuck around the area (Soulard) and tried out Chava's Mexican Restaurant.  It was such a cute place with great service.  The cheese dip was super good, and I was obsessed with the refried beans that came with my meal.  Pretty much, it was the perfect Saturday!

Provident's Young Professionals Board (a few people couldn't make it, but that's the majority of us!)

Sunday was pretty eventful as well - more on that later this week!

Linking up with Biana.

  5. Looks like quite a fun and lovely weekend.

  6. You had me at refriend beans! ;) The Rooster Crawl sounds like a lot of fun and a great way to raise awareness, especially with the meaning behind the name. I'm glad you had a great turn out!

  7. What a great cause to create a fun event around in order to raise awareness. Mental illness shouldn't be overlooked in all the ways it can present itself. I appreciate people like you and foundations that recognize it's a problem that should be addressed in society and to provide help which will make a difference considering all the crazy things that have been happening lately. Enough is enough, right?
