October 2016 Goals

It's hard to believe it is a new month.  New month = new goals.  I honestly don't know where this year is going, but I can't complain considering we are in my favorite part of the year!

A recap on September...

September Goals:

1.  Organize my refrigerator.  Check this one off the list.  While mine does not look as pretty as my inspiration picture I shared last month, it is much more organized.  I got rid of a bunch of old things, then really thought out where I wanted to store items.  I picked up a few refrigerator bins from Home Goods to help store like items together, like breads, breakfast items and cheeses and I feel that has really made a difference.  Mission accomplished!

2.  Organize and back up pictures.  I did not do this at all.  I was a little better about new pictures I uploaded - I labeled them and put them in folders, but I didn't even look at all the pictures already on my computer.  It definitely still needs to be done, so this may appear again on my goals in the future.

3.  Walk on the weekends.  I didn't do this nearly as often as I had hoped.  I did get in some walks with my mom, when she was here and when I was there, but other than that, nothing.  I still enjoyed the crisp weather by opening up my apartment.  Just loving these cooler mornings!

4.  Pantry/laundry shelves.  Done!  I did this (and the fridge) when my mom was in town and she really helped me be efficient about space.  I moved a few items that I don't use very often to a trunk that I have out as decoration - gotta love sneaky storage - and then was able to switch a few other things around to make extra room.

On to October...

October Goals:

1.  Clean on Fridays.  Usually I wait til Saturday or Sunday to clean my apartment.  The past few Fridays I have done my cleaning on Friday and it has been a game changer.  It makes the weekends seem much less stressful and even a bit longer.  Waking up to a clean house on Saturday morning is so nice.  I realize this is not something that can be done every week, depending on plans, but if I am home with enough time to do so, then my goal is to get my cleaning done!

2.  Clean out my freezer.  I did my fridge, but my freezer is a bit of a mess still.  Things may or may not be falling out when I get ice for my water.  Not all the time, mind you, but if you move one thing, then it's like you have to rearrange the whole thing!

3.  Knock items off my fall bucket list.  I already completed one, making homemade applesauce, but I have 9 others to go!  Since this is my favorite time of year, I really want to make the most of it and just enjoy all fall has to offer.

4.  Start my Christmas list/shopping.  Christmas is going to be here before we know it!  I want to get my list going, that way when the holidays are in full swing I can be organized and also keep my eye out for good deals.

Cheers to a productive months!

  1. I love your goal of cleaning on Fridays! It makes the weekend so much nicer when your home is already cleaned. I'm trying to grocery shop right after school on Fridays so I don't have to worry about it Saturday. That means I have to have my list ready Thursday night and sometimes that's hard. I'm also trying to clean more throughout the week instead of one day. We'll see how long that lasts haha!

  5. Cleaning on Fridays is a great idea. I have been trying to do little things during the week, too, so Saturday doesn't feel so wasted on things like scrubbing the bathtub. You are smart to start on Christmas shopping, it always gets to be stressful come December!

  6. We try to clean on Thursdays so we have the entire weekend to enjoy but that is hard sometimes after a long day at work. I just created a fall bucket list, I seriously love lists and I can't wait to start checking those items off. I definitely need to set some goals like purge the pantry or my closet, those are two daunting tasks. Have a great day!

  7. So many great goals! I can relate to cleaning on Friday's. I try my hardest to get everything done after work so I can feel relaxed over the weekend. Walking is another great one. We're trying to take more advantage of this before it gets too cold. I'm right there with you on starting my shopping! I've actually purchased several things online that I've had tucked away for a few months now. I can't stand dealing with the crowds when it gets closer. Beautifully Candid

  11. You have reminded me, I need to back up my photos at some point. I'm going to write that onto next weeks to-do list, right now!

I organised my fridge a while back and it's really nice having a place for everything. Since we have a lot of veggies and fruit in the fridge, I've turned the "veg drawer" into where all the non-veg things go and then I can fit the veg, salad and fruit it so much easier now.

I love getting my cleaning done during the week, it's one of the great things about not having a job any more, when my Husband finishing work on Friday, we know we have the whole weekend to enjoy ourselves without any cleaning to do.

I hope you have an amazing October!

  17. I love the idea of cleaning on Fridays! I always wait until Saturday morning, but you're right -- I bet it's such a wonderful feeling waking up to a clean space on the first day of the weekend. I need to start doing this too...maybe tomorrow!

  20. Great work on your September goals, sneaky storage is the best! I would love to wake up to a clean house on Saturday morning but by the time Friday rolls around that's the last thing I want to do. Good for you!

  21. I'm definitely getting a jump start on my Christmas shopping with you! I like to have the majority of my shopping by December. The month seems so busy with other things that I like to be able to just pick up some holiday candy or stocking stuffers and spend time wrapping gifts instead of out shopping in the craziness.

  22. I moved my cleaning lady to Friday's and it has been so nice to go home on Friday and know that Saturday morning I can relax a little at least every other week. Laundry is the one I just hate! Really need to start trying to do more laundry on friday maybe!
