Scottsdale, AZ

This weekend I took a much needed getaway with some girls to Scottsdale, AZ.  If you have never been, I would HIGHLY suggest going.

The weather was fantastic - the "dry" heat really makes a difference!  We were in the 100's the whole time we were there, but it didn't feel nearly as miserable as 100 degrees would in the Midwest.  What makes it even better is the misting systems the outdoor areas have installed. Those things are great!  It definitely made the heat more managable.

We stayed at the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Paradise Valley - Scottsdale.  It was SO lovely.  The room was very spacious, which was great since there were 5 of us sharing a room.  The service was fabulous and so were the hotel grounds.  Just look at this picture of one of the pools.  SO pretty!

My cousin lives in Phoenix, so I asked him to provide a few suggestions of places to go.  He did not disappoint!  One of my favorite spots we went to was a restuarant called Olive + Ivy.

The atmosphere there was incredible.  We were able to sit outside while we waited for our table and had the best waitress for drinks.  She was super sweet and very attentive.  Also, I would highly suggest the pesto and bread offered with dinner.  The pesto was delicious, very fresh and flavorful.

Another winner was The Breakfast ClubI had the Smoked Salmon Lox Bene which was so, so good.

It had capers on top, which I found out was not my thing, but I just scraped them off and went on my way.  The fruit was plated in the cutest way...melon slices on a thick toothpick.  The presentation all together was just perfect.  Again, the service was great, we had the sweetest waitress who helpfully directed us to the closest CVS so we could stock up on sunscreen and a few other items we weren't able to bring in our carry-ons.

We spent the days at the pool and evenings out in Old Town.  Old Town Scottsdale has something for everyone - so many bars and clubs you can check out!  They are all in close proximity, too, so we were able to hit up a few places in one evening.  One of the best parts were the golf carts they had available to take you back to your hotel.  There is just something SO fun about riding around in a golf cart.

Unfortunately, it was back to reality on Sunday.  The last day of vacation always stinks...especially when you factor in the travel time.  When vacation is over, I just want to be home.  Luckily we had a smooth flight on the way back and a warm welcome home.

The trip was a perfect little getaway.  I feel like we just scratched the surface of what Scottsdale has to offer, so I definitely hope to go back sometime.  I feel like it is the perfect place.  No matter what type of trip you are looking for (relaxing, going out, etc.), Scottsdale has you covered!
